Got my 600 mile service done today. Light still on - dealership has no idea what it is - the only thing they came up with is that is signifies your headlight is on. They will call MV. Yeah right.

Still love the bike - just about at 1K.

Maybe when I put the Microtech on it will go away.

I've had it come on occasionally, once I was pretty sure it was due to low battery voltage. I found lately when it's on I can shut the bike off once it's up to temp, restart it and it's gone. Other times this hasn't worked, but it's so rarely on it's hard to trace.

I basically consider it the "somethings not normal" light. Like a cars check engine light. Maybe voltage is low, maybe the O2 sensor is shot or getting bad readings, maybe a temp sensor is wonky. Who knows, but it's most likely not the headlight being on.

So, ran into an issue, one of the starter relay wires burned through and shorted the relay. Orange light on, Malfunction on the dash. Got home, Stop Eng on the dash. Turned the key off, everything stayed on by the engine, starter cranking like mad. Quickly pull the seat and pull up in the relay wire, all stop, everything off. Anyways, looked into the workshop manual and there is a page that refers to this light as basically a General service light and then gave a trouble shooting run down on connections and such to check till it goes off. So it's referee to in the service manuals, if not directly labelled.

Mine came on last weekend out for a ride up the back roads around here. I was giving it some but nothing over the top. Bike isn't due for a service, and the light turned off again when i stopped the bike and let it sit for a while.

Reckler - can you tell us what page number this is in the workshop manual? Thanks much...

The instance the "warning light" is referee to that I saw was page 167 (E11) of the 990-1090 chassis manual.

Found it - thank you. It's troubling that my certified MV dealer couldn't have figured this out. The bike now has 1200 miles on it in about 2 months and seems to be in perfect running order. Starts effortlessly and no weird electrical behavior. I'll have to print off this page and bring it back to them so they can troubleshoot.

Any further information about this? Mine came on yesterday and doesn't seem t want to go away.

yes - it means your bike is running correctly. :naughty:

4000 miles in and it's still running well for me. the only time it went off was when I had the Microtec on so it's possible that it has something to do with a lean/rich condition.

I'm pretty surebitsba general check engine light like in a car. It may just be overly sensitive. I found it mainly came on for low battery power with my bike. Full charge, fine...low power, light. Generally off after running a while. I figure if it doesn't put a message on the dash, it triggers the light.

Mystery solved

Had the bike in for the 6000K service - the dealers MV certified tech told me it means your headlight is working. Interesting since you can't turn it off but he said that its supposed to be a safety feature to make sure you know it's operational.

My bike is a '13 - might mean something different on other models/years.

My headlight is always on and that light rarely is. Seems an unlikely purpose since, I believe, only the high beam indicator is required.

I had the diagnostics run on mine to work out what the hell this light was. Turns out for me it is an error with the exhaust actuator that has been installed for the emissions/noise regulations and a random fault with my 02 sensor.

If your bike is still under warranty get them to run it on the diagnostics computer as the replacement for the actuator is ridiculously expensive from memory around $800 in Australia. My bike is out of warranty so I am just going to suck it up and save my dollars for a full system and replacement ecu which will get rid of the actuator and the 02 sensor.

I'll double check that they ran the full diagnostic check - thanks for the heads up. I've had them document on my service record both times it's been in that the orange light is on.

I'm a bit skeptical of that explanation too - but I do think the '13 is different than earlier model years so who knows. Again - they explained it to me as a safety feature in case there's a short, etc.

Bike runs great - orange light issue is documented - case closed for me.

If I have a free couple minutes I'll check mine out tomorrow. I don't remember seeing it lit when riding over the weekend.

Sorry for the slow response. No lights while riding. The only light I noticed was when the side stand was down while the engine is running, then there would be an amber / orange'ish light.

Maybe you're getting an odd warning or have a faulty side stand switch?? Wish I could help more.

Orange light on F4

I recently had my F4 1000R MY2010 in for service (oil, filters, plugs, fluid, coolant) and new tyres, no issues other than corroded adjusters on the cables for the exhaust valve. As I could not get parts immediately they removed the cables and gave the bike back. I tested the bike and it ran well without the cables but rpm was too high while stationary and bike ran very hot. While testing this orange light was flickering on and off and this is something new. The assumption was that the servo for the exhaust valve was causing this as it only comes on at lower rpm. Had new cables and adjusters installed but still have the light as before so this goes against the cause coming from the servo, unless there is now a fault with it. The workshop hooked up the dyno and previously found some errors on coils 1 and 2 but these were just connection errors and they say these are now resolved. The only other new issue I have is an intermittent thunk during deceleration and wonder if there might be an issue with the clutch but it was not touched during the service.

I have looked through the manuals, performed a word search on all the pdf documents I have on the User Key (memory stick) but there is nothing referring to this specific light. If others have found reference to it on other manuals please can you share.

If the light provides a warning from the ECU then how is it checked and is there any way of clearing it once fixed if similar to controlled pressing of the function buttons on the dash after a service?

I have spoken with other Ducati owners and they think it will be the servo motor for the exhaust valve and it is either not correctly synchronized or it has fault. I also found the following gadget on the internet that helps explain a bit and also a fix.

http://www.skutr.net/exhaust-valves-and-servo-motors-explained/

Without going into detail, there are NO official MV workshops in Singapore at this time, so technical knowledge with MVs is limited.

My 2014 F4 has an orange yellow light that stays on after starting. As soon as you roll off it goes out. It is labeled ABS in super small letters. I believe it`s a self test light for the ABS.
This is in the owners manual but not the workshop manual.

ABS warning light (orange) *
Lights up when the ABS system
has a fault or is deactivated, or if
the speed is lower than 5 km/h.

Exhaust System Valve Actuator

I hope this information helps,

I have a Brutale 1090RR 2013, and when the bike was over 100 km long, began to show the same orange bulb on the board without explanation and without any warning on the board.

I take the bike to the dealer, and when it was scanned, the fault is in the servo motor, this device is responsible for opening and closing a valve which is installed at the end of the manifold of exhaust system (CENTER-DOWN OF THE MOTORBIKE).

We proceeded to check the wiring, and found that the engine of the motorcycle broke down one cable that goes to the valve in the exhaust system.

Additionally, we proceeded to check the servo motor, and unfortunately this also was damaged by not being able to move the 2 wires that open and close the valve in the exhaust system.

We proceeded to take out the 2 wires that were installed in the valve of the exhaust system without removing the servo motor, and failure never return.

Fortunately, the motorcycle was in warranty and the dealer proceeded to order the servo motor and the 2 wires, we replace parts, and now my motorcycle has 5000 km and the fault did not reappear.

Replacement parts are:

8000B2126: MV Agusta OEM VALVE, ACTUATOR MUFFLER (450$)

8000B4114: MV Agusta OEM CABLE, CLOSING, VALVE ACTUATOR (43$)

8000B4109: MV Agusta OEM CABLE OPENING, VALVE ACTUATOR (43$)

Again I hope this information is helpful to someone.
