Came across this picture today, credit to Moto Social. I'm not sure if the instrument cowl was removed to add to the look...but any wet weather riding would definitely cause problems.

However, the key is you can see what this particular after-market headlight looks like.

omfg you're the man! I have a puig windscreen, but I can much more easily visualize how it would look.

Based on those aftermarket levers this was probably repairs from a dump by an individual much more decisive than myself.

Honestly, not that bad. I will make a decision eventually and absolutely post the results in the thread but wow this is eye opening. It really doesn't look awful, don't ya think?

I actually think of all the non-OEM (original) headlight options - this is by far the best looking option.

I'm thinking this headlight:

And mount it using this bracket:

It'll look nice :)

Kind of strange the product page doesn’t show the light output pattern. The reviews seem a bit contrived. Have you found videos to help? Keep in mind “Cafe” communities often seek cool factor and what neighboring “bikers” post on IG. Don’t be that guy, lol. Its certainly inexpensive.

Headlamps are a hard decision. The TVL headlamp is $1,180 and when I tried to upgrade the 2015 BMWGS1200R to LED, OEM it was $1,800.

If the headlamp does not cast the right light for your liking, go with auxiliary lights by:

There are comparisons of both at https://advrider.com/f/threads/denali-d4-versus-clearwater-lights.1326733/

I went with the Denali DM 2.0 and they are working great. The photo is not the DM 2.0

Just a quick post in case this is at all helpful... I have this on my 920...

To be honest, I'm not 100% sold on the aesthetics of the housing I used (a little too retro/rounded for my liking), but it fit into the stock bracket with a couple of washers so (y) I guess... The LED set up is heaps brighter than the stock halogen bulbs, and the beam spread is fine when you adjust the angle to your liking. Pulling out the indicators also gives a pretty clean look when it's all blacked out.

I'm working with a different supplier for the headlamp on the 1090RR - might post up some new pics once they're on.

And just a self-fulfilling pic of the 920 headlight in a slightly different setting 😉 LOL

BTW - in case you need specs when shopping around, it's a 7" lamp inside the housing and the OEM bolts on the side are M8 threaded (don't mean to spam here, but probably the only actual useful thing about my post!). :)

Looks OK as an affordable necessary replacement...but I prefer the look of Massimo Tamburini's original design.

Yeah kinda agree myself - depends on the angle you catch the bike at with my set up. I still have the original but can't seem to find quality LED bulbs that fit in the OEM housing which was the reason for the swap in the first place. Don't want to hijack though, that's a different thread all together...!

Okay here we are a year later. The tape worked for the few times I rode, I had a puppy for the first time and didn’t have much time to ride.

I broke the headlight mount trying to install this replacement, I think it was a bit too big haha.

i’m going to JB weld it back together with the headlight on there, then reassemble it onto the bike, that should hold well :)

going forward with cannabalizing the plug unless anybody suggests otherwise.

@ahaussmann123 ummm, don't hold your breath, it's not going to work. JB is not magical. You need to source a new/used headlight bracket. Sorry to be a buzzkill. Quick search: 2006 MV Agusta Brutale 910s 910 S Headlight Holder Bracket Mount Stay 800099277 for sale online | eBay
I seriously beg to differ. Look at these pictures, it’s stronger than original :p

In all seriousness the OEM mount is too small I’d have to go aftermarket a.k.a ugly. If this can handle a rough installation in situ. then I think it will be okay, I’ll keep y’all updated for sure!

Wiring is next, but it’s been cold this week and the garage has no heat.

"Live and learn" as the saying goes.
After sleeping on it, I do think you you have a good point not to rely on JB weld alone. Especially years down the line.

Did some reading, what if I use some sheet metal and pop rivets to hold it together as well, to further strengthen it, give it a permanent fix?

I don’t think a fresh OEM part will solve it, the light is just too wide for that mount. I would have to make another attempt at widening it which could again fail.

Find a local metal parts fabricator and TIG weld like @Amplific recommends. If you go with this method be sure to bring your headlight for sizing. Most likely a lap joint would be used on the inside. If you mess it all up there is eBay to start over.

Idea: buy a used unit like the one in the previous eBay link. Spit it in two. Have one half include the mounting hole. TIG weld an identical tab on the other half. —You can use your busted bracket to cannibalize. File and clean up so they are lined up. You could also add material at the split with a new mounting hole. BUT it may not fit between your forks. I’m just thinking out loud without visuals in front of me.

Finally.

Work has been crazy. Life has been crazy. I need to get out of the city if I want to get back into this hobby. I got a "new" bracket, and just needed to grind down maybe 1/8 of material on the sides to make it work. I have to really ride at speed to see if it will maintain it's angle.

Looks great! With the rizoma blinkers, and the flyscreen, it's really aggressive. It's far brighter than stock, though the light pattern is not nearly as wide. I think with the carbon fender, and all new LED lights, this bike is brought into the current decade.
