Waited for over a year for my MV Rivale,
Had problems from start starting. Its under a year old, If I take it out, I have to keep it running, cos it won't want to start again. Got it booked in for some work, would even start , so back in the garage it went. Any one had issues like this. Apart from the fact it won't start, when it does its worth all the stress! isn

Back when I was about 6 my mother and sister and I would drive to south of france for summer in her MGB Roadster, thats when I first saw an MV. Since then I have always wanted one. Had a few bikes for round the field at home, since then always had bikes. Then at long last got my MV. See above!!!

Would this be a sprag clutch issue? Seems to be somewhat common with the 3cyl bikes. Lots on this around the site.

I like the Yuasa batteries, but some are going lithium for lower weight. Good luck solving your issue, stay positive :)

If engine spins but won't start the sprag clutch needs to be updated. If you got it almost a year ago and haven't had that done you need to.
Buy a Yuasa battery if you need a new one.....but check with your dealer about updated sprag clutch first.

If there's an unhealthy clunk (sprag clutch slipping) while starting and then it's stops spinning, replace the sprag clutch. If it spins normally, but doesn't want to start the engine, replace the battery. The factory one does not last long (battery), it's a crap, so I would've replaced it anyway if I was in your shoes.

I've changed the sprag clutch (under warranty) and got a new non-BS battery :) Starts like a charm...Well, almost always. Yesterday, the sprag spinned few times, then I heard a click, and the sprag continued to spin, finally starting the engine. During that click, the EMU reset (clock and trip got reset).

The non-starting, when not just a weak battery, is because the sprag clutch factors in the ECU determining when to make a spark. When it slips even imperceptibly the ECU gets confused and your engine won't start.

Problem with incorrect tolerances on first production parts. Factory has since sorted it. Supplier issue, not a design flaw.
Warranty should cover the improved parts....

But you still want to toss the Chinese battery.....
