Check your fuses... one's for the display. Had this problem twice I think.

 

Digital Display Not Working...

Fuse checked out OK.

Problem was intermittent for a while and and has failed once and for all.

any more ideas, gratefully received!

It is not a very common fault for tachometer to go dead on MVs. In fact, I do not remember anyone posting thing like that on this forum and I have been here for 3 years now.

The most obvious; is the battery OK?

 

I apologise if I'm stating the obvious but have you checked the multi plug that fits into the back of the console, if it's not clicked in properly that might be the cause of your fault.

Yes, battery seems OK, at least OK enought to start her up.

Where are you located Dave? If you are the UK I have a spare console you could borrow to check and see if the fault is in the console itself or elsewhere.

I'd say that you need to see page 41 but i don't have it scanned...

 

I have had this, there must be a 2008 thread somewhere, with pictures.

It was the supply to the display which was taken from within the main loom, where it is clipped to the main frame tubes.

The twisted tee joint had corroded with the goo that enters the loom when it gets wet, it started as an intermittent loss but failed altogether.

Split the loom, clean it, strip it, solder it, tape it - bingo !

Cost pennies in the end but another forum member swapped his ECU and Display with me to discount them from the search !

Since I bought my F4-R with 5.000km, up to a month ago, wasn´t showing the "trip1" or the "trip2", only total km´s. After a repair on the engine, now only shows trip1 but not total kms or trip2. Any ideas about this problem? It´s anoying...and almost funny.

For clarification;

Are using the starter button to toggle between these displays ? Is that the function that is not working ?
