Well, I've searched this Forum and I can't seem to find the answer I'm looking for: Has Anybody been able to find alternative weight fork springs for the Y10 F4? And if so, who's the supplier? I'm needing some quite a bit heavier than what's in there now, I dont know the stock spring rate yet either. Any ideas? And I've read about all the pre-2010
Options, (not many), but I'm thinking the Y10 internals are different.
Thanks

How off is it? How much more does it sag with you on it than needed? It might be easier to make a spacer in that length and add it to the spring.

Good idea with the Spacer, I've considered that option too.
The spring is too Soft for me for aggressive Cornering and Brakeing on the Track, it's fine for street riding.
I'm just going to pull the Springs out, have them Rated for their
Spring Rate, and then I'll just have some made, or Adapted to fit my
Forks if thats possible.
I don't want to run too much Pre-load, or have the spring compressed
A lot with a longer spacer, because I feel it's better to have most of the
Available travel in the spring at "full extension"
Dosn't that sound right?
I weigh about 210 with gear and the stock fork springs are "probably" rated for a little Italian guy (165lbs?)

Measure sag with preload all the way in/tight. If its more than 35-40 then you need a stiffer spring. If its only 10mm more than 35, just have a 10mm spacer made and you will be golden. Having the spring compressed 20mm isnt going to do much. RaceTech couldnt respring my forks, they had not seen springs of that size before. Marzzocchi uses some weird parts in their suspension, like 28mm valves!

Thanks Joe! I've got some friends at Ohlins out here in South Carolina
And maybe they'll be able to come up with an alternate spring, once I hand them my Stock Springs. If they do, I'll let Everybody know about it
On this Forum. Thanks again!

It just happens that 3 of the Tech's will be working with us this
Weekend @ the BMW rally in PA.
I really didn't think it would hurt anybody if I asked them if they
Could come-up with a custom cartridge kit and springs for my F4
Does Marzocchi have what Im looking for? Maybe.......
I'll be glad to Share my Experience with them, and thanks for the
Phone Number.

What info do they need to make them to your specs? Is it just weight or is it more invloved than that?

Sounds like they are pretty reasonably priced.

You should not have more than 30mm sag on the forks on a race bike Joe, especialy on new suspension, in the old day's that would be fine but not with the new set-up in shocks. Road you can go to 35-40mm.

I'm sending them my springs next week.
They will then measure the Stock Spring-Rate,
Then let me know what it is,
Then i'll discuss with them the the Rate of the new Fork Springs they will make for Me.
And I will let Y'all know the Stock Spring-Rate.

Super-Top Secret inside information:
Ohlins will have a Cartridge kit for the 50mm Marzocchi forks
"Custom Application" I.E. Send your forks to Ohlins in North Carloina, and They'll do'em up with Ohlins Internals. Retail Price around $1650.00
I believe.
So that answers that question,

Al from Design Corse but in a lot of hours to try and find me inserts for my forks, the best option we found was the Andreani F4 Super stock Forks Cartridge Kit, not sure how this goes in relation to the Y10 bikes but they are highly recommended. I have not been able to afford them but there are guys using their product down here on other bikes are swear by the kit's and their service.
There is also the Matris kits which looks very good but once again not sure on the Y10 issue.

Thanks Donsy for that info.
I was excited to hear Today that the Guys at Ohlins are
Willing to get involved in making me a Custom Cartridge Kit,
We all know these guys are "Top Shelf" and I've got a bit of
Inside line working with their Tech's this Week.
Next, after the Forks are done, I'll get my TTX 36 Rear Shock,
Which they Confimed with me Today, there is No Negative Issue
To mounting Upside Down, other than it adds some Un-Sprung Weight,
Which I'll live with, because the weight is centered in the bike, more or less,
And Low.
And I'm Kind of Obsessed with getting the bike as light as possible,
But not at the expense of Permium Suspension Components.

You must be "Special"
When I get my forks back from Ohlins they won't have to Appoligize for
Poor quality, so they don't Appoligize for the Price either.
