Would you trade your MV to buy a F4R, 312 or F4RR if MV offerred you extra cash?

Would you trade-in your MV to buy a F4R, 312 or F4RR if MV offerred you extra cash through a owner loyalty program?

Background: I was talking with Pro Italia about the $3,500+ discount program on F4Rs. They were saying the program while great for new customers, hurts all F4 owners as it drives prices down. I then said if MV offerred an owner loyalty program that should help offset some depreciation.

So, if MV offerred you an addition $1,000 to $2,500 as a loyal MV customer, would you trade up to a new MV? This would also be in conjunction with the current discounts and low interest financing on the F4R.

MV in the UK really piss me off with this one, first I buy a 1000S for £14250 and one year later D&K are selling them for £10000, luckily my dealer seemed unaware of this fact, I then buy a 1000R and within 6 months they have replaced it with a 312R, one year later a 312RR, I have a 14 month old bike that has been superseeded twice!! MV are now selling 312R's for £12500.
As far as I am concerned MV can :finger: off. I was really looking forward to the new Fireblade and am very dissapointed it is so ugly.

I STILL think MV don't give a shit once you have bought a bike from them, unless of couse they think you are loaded like the Tamburini owners who got the sleazy invite to buy a CC which really was :barfalot:

I'm having a bad day in case you haven't noticed :)

In answer to your question Alan, maybe, but I doubt very much at all that MV would ever do anything like that for it's customers

I'm not having a bad day, heh, but I still agree.

Although, I will admit, sometimes they will surprise you. You hear stories about how someone can't get a part for months and months, but on the other hand, they replace some hugely expensive part under warranty (as they should) with no problems at all.

Now back to the original issue....

Umm, I MIGHT. I am intrigued by the newer bikes, they feel a lot lighter from the seat than my 750 and that seems like something I would want to try.

But why would they do that when they can't seem to stop making new models that obsolete the old ones every 6 months? They would go bankrupt and the used market would drop even further.

Still sticking with my "old" 750...

i thnk Mike is rite ..... theres a lot of things that customer has highlighted the problem to MV and nothing so far has been done .... So what kind of loyalty services can they provide ......

Does that mean Social Escort Services to those who spend $$$$$

When I mentioned the idea of an owner loyalty program to the sales person, his response was "they'd have to." That being said, I was just trying to see if such a program would be enough incentive to current owners.

Mike, that's exactly what the sales person was talking about and why they were upset. Can you imagine just spending $23K on an F4R only to find out a few weeks later it's now depreciated beyond $20,000 (USD).

In terms of new bikes, I don't think MV's done yet. I think the new design will still come out next year as a 2009 model - which is another reason I think MV needs a loyalty program to move the 312s.

Andy, for lightness, I think the Brembo Superlights wheels would do the trick. ;)

Yeah, and I think there are a whole bunch of other things too. I think the Marzocchi forks are lighter (would love actual data though), the crankshaft is multiple pounds lighter, I think they have a newer smaller alternator now too?

It was shocking pushing my bike up the ramp, and then pushing the 1098 up. No comparison, the 1098 is much lighter. I haven't pushed a new MV 1000 up a ramp (probably won't unless it's mine), but I suspect it will be a huge difference.

+1........... They do not give a toss, 910R missing the cans that were meant to come with it.... :jerkoff: Would not buy another new MV, had two now and just can't afford the "hit" when selling.... Will however take advantage of this when after another F4..... now who want a 910R for £8500? roll up roll up :naughty:

Mike, this is something Ive been saying for ages. I just can't believe they bring out so many new models (colour schemes) in such a short space of time. It doesn't do the brand image any favours and most certainly doesn't do the owners any favours! Who's going to buy this new 1078 bike when they know the model will change again next year and perhaps with a new body shape. :banghead:

I might be tempted by a real (sincere) offer on my 1000S for a 312r or newer 312RR myself, but it would definitely hinge on how the numbers play out for both. With that said I definetly feel for the guy's that have gotten caught out there with all the revision F4 models as of late- not a cool thing for anyone really. I think we'd all be a little more accepting of this stuff if they had at least addressed some of the underlined problems with the bikes reliablity as part of this process.

hi yes i would take that deal if i could get the bike i want, i have a brand new 1000s with 600 miles and if i could get a 312r white/black i think i would go for that,

No. The new ones look the same as my 05 and I'm not fast enough to appreciate the added horsepower. Plus, I wouldn't be able to stand the depreciation when they come out with a new F4 in a year or two.

I was ready to buy a 312 in October, really glad now that i held off until after the Milan show, which i was assured no new models would be coming out!!!!!!!

I will be buying but I feel now, I can sit back and decide what is the best option for myself between the F41000R, 312R & 312RR

just glad I didnt rush in last month

Maybe it's time for another dealer inventory check? Last time I was at Renaissance he had a Brutale 910R and 2 F41000Rs, one black and one red. Been there quite a while.

I'm almost tempted to get an F41000R, but people describe the powerband as "brutal", which is exactly what shrunk my balls after riding the '04 ZX-10R extensively. It was very brutal. I've only recenly been cured of the "1000cc shrunk balls blues" by a recent GSX-R1000.

So the F4-R may not be my thing.

I took a look at Scottsdale MV's site and they have 3 F4R going for $19K and a '06 F4S going for $16,500. Incidentally, they're the ones offering a free scooter with an F4R purchase. Pro Italia's show 6 F4Rs on their site. I was there on Saturday and only saw two on the floor.

Andy, I think a demo ride is in order. :) I don't think the on/off power delivery (at least on my S) is much worse than it was on my '02 750 (but that's just me). Also, weight-wise, I don't feel much of a difference between my old 750 and the 1000 (but I've gain like 10 pounds since I had my 750 :D)

That is the used 06 with 400 miles on it right? Based on Cycle Trader, it goes for $16K...and it water-cooled and has a fork lock (whatever this is)... :naughty:

I am tempted...still like the 05/06 the most...

The 1000R is a fair bit easier to get back on the throttle mid corner than the 1000S was, but with the race RG3 ecu the other side of 10,000rpm is quite brutal

Me too. Never really got caught up in the "R", "RR" and soon to be "RRR 2zillion" hype stuff. In fact like you I always like the styling and performance (good low to mid range power with plenty up top) of the 05 / 06. Best paint schemes and let's face it they all have plenty of power 5 or 10 more won't sway me too much either way- especially when the S model is already making over 160hp to begin with.
I always said to anyone that would hear me that "if you can't get the job done with that kind of power then there's something wrong and it ain't with the bike."

got to agree with you there mate about using the horsepower 156 atw is more than i can realy use on the road but it is fun trying, when i bought this bike depreceation was something i expected, i mean is it anymore realy than a ducati, or bimota? people should just enjoy riding the best whatever model!

First off, I’d like to say, how do you call a bike an “RR = race ready” when it’s over 1000cc?:stickpoke

As for a new model every 6 months it doesn’t really bother me in the least. So I drive a bike that’s out dated by 4 or 5 maybe 20 models.:loser: No different than saying I’ve got a 05 model bike. The only people that it seems to bother is the ones that get pissed off when they have to have the latest and greatest, at which point a model every 6 months could get annoying, but they’d have to buy a new bike ever year despite the fact. Anyway, in the grand scheme I can’t push my MV harder than it can push me; I don’t really have a need for the latest and greatest.:eek:
