Nothing like an Italian riding an Italian bike! Fabrizio did better on Ducs in WSBK than he did Honda, Suzuki or BMW, so I'm hoping he likes the torque of the triple. :f4:

Last weekend, the final rounds of the Italian Superbike Championships were held at Mugello.

Unfortunately Michel Fabrizio's ride on the F3 ended with retirements in both Super Sport races.

Actually, Fabrizio wasn't the only illustrious wild card at Mugello: Claudio Corti, MV's rider in World Superbike, made an appearance on the smaller sister bike.
However, after injuring himself in a crash on the first day of practice, Corti decided to withdraw in order not to jeopardize his participation in the last round of SBK at Quatar.

But it was far from being a negative weekend for MV Agusta.
With the humble Massimo Roccoli in the saddle, the F3 took first place in both Super Sport rounds.

The races featured hard fought battles right to the finish line, with riders representing three manufacturers - Roccoli (MV), Cruciani (Kawasaki) and Caricasulo (Honda) - all with a mathematical shot at the title.

Unfortunately, due to some bad luck and the usual development niggles early in the season, Roccoli's double win at Mugello (and despite having more wins overall this season) still left him 2 points down on Caricasulo.

This season's Italian Super Sport championship was described as one of the most exciting and competitive in years.
And, in it's first serious year of serious participation, 'vice-champion' seems a more than honourable result for MV.

For fans of other Italian marques, the Superbike title went to Ivan Goi on the Ducati, with Ducati rider Baiocco second, Calia on the Aprilia third. Behind them -- a sea of BMWs...:naughty:

Thank so much for the update!
It is really great to read about the success of the F3 and think and hope they can carry this momentum into 2015 for championships in WSSP, the CIV and other national campaigns.
Forza MV Agusta !!!!!

MV will also be competing in the British Superbike and Supersports championship next season :)
How much factory backing is being offered to this dealer/team I'm not sure but hopefully it's substantial?
