Woohoo!! My wife bought me a Handy Industry Motorcycle Lift for my birthday and it finally was delivered this week. It is so nice to be able to lift the bike 4 feet in the air!!

I do have a question though...does anyone on the board also have a lift and is the bike secure by just using the front wheel vise without a rear stand?

Also, what rear stand would you recommend using on the lift? I prefer not to use the OEM stand as I would like something with wheels on it to make for easy raising and lowering on the lift.

I tried the Pitbull, but find that the rear arm hangs off the back of the lift platform and without the front clamp tighted to the front wheel, the bike starts to slide off the back of the lift while on the Pit Bull.

We used similar model lifts in several shops I worked at. Big 800lb Harleys were more than secure using just the front vise, never had one fall off. :)

my buddy has one and you can just secure it by the front tire. But i would def suggest using the rear stand as well....gets the tire off the ground for any chain, tire, etc work you may need. I had my bike on it and had no problems doing it myself.

I recently bought the handy sam1000 lift, this is 4" longer than the other models they offer and also offers a rear drop out panel to remove rear wheel easier. For sport bike the front vise is definately adequate to hold the bike. I find the length of the lift to be perfect to use my pitbull rear stands, Handy does make a shorter stand that's designed for their lifts, they offer both single and double sided swingarm versions. It's a joy to work on a bike in the air!!
