Hello mates,
So was just wondering which QS is the best one out there with smallest size. I hate those long cylindrical ones which are so prominent on the side.

Also, do I need to have ECU replaced to get a QS to perform optimally? I have stock.

Thanks y'all for your suggestions.

No, it's not that, it's just that there are very few options using the standard gear lever and standard ECU.
A gear linkage will give you more options, but as you stated you didn't want that.

So now you're looking for the "bolt" type system, it should be a stand alone system so that it get's wired directly to the ignition and/or injectors, that way you keep your ECU.

Hope that helps.
Here's one

Thanks everyone for pitching in. However as Donsy mentioned, don't want that long cylinder bar hanging off of beautiful engine.

I came across SP Electonics' Its going out of 350 Euros. Is that compatible with < 2010 models? Without an ECU replacement? If yes, is that a good price?

Once again, is it necessary to change ECU to get these QS installed and work optimally?

Cheers :)

Hey TIA, I got this from Chris at X-bikes, I think it was about £260 but you'll have to check with him. It works well, needs a little fine tuning as it's not as sensitive as I'd like however that's only a matter of a 1 minute phone call.
Donsy is right as in it works in conjunction with my Microtec which aren't cheap but are worth every penny. If you have the dollar then get a microtec, it will change your ride. As for the QS, it makes me laugh every-time I donk, donk, donk up through the gears

Thanks for sharing. How do you like it?

Where did you get it from and how much should I pay?

TIA.

No worries, I just ask because the OP did not want to change ECU, but I am about o buy my 3rd Microtec so I know what you mean :), even though I use different q/s.

You could use that shifter with their controller (PQ8 i think) which would make it independant of anythign fitted to the bike but it's one of those situations of by the time you've spent X to acheive 20% of a job you might as well spend a bit more to get to Y and ahceoive 100% of the job.

Donsy, what's so special with an after market ECU that MV itself couldn't develop. I always that question to myself.
