In every road test done on a car, irrespective of the make, the acceleration figures are always quoted.
There are times stated for the 1/4 mile as well as for zero to 100Km/h.
This is also the case on figures quoted by the manufacturer.
I am yet to see this quoted on a bike test or manufacturers information.
Does anyone know what the acceleration times are for the F4S, F4R and R312?
Also, any idea of how they compare to other bikes - 1098, GSX, R1 etc.

I was doing some cleaning up and found the Cycle World MasterBike 2007 article. The specs they list are, in condensed form

Dry Weight: 446 lbs.
0-60 mph: 2.8 s.
1/4 mile: 9.96 s @ 147.19 mph
Horsepower: 155.4 hp @ 12,500 rpm
Torque: 73.6 ft.-lb. @ 10.300 rpm
Top Speed: 176 mph (284 kph)

They commented that their top-speed venue was one direction only with a slight headwind but they didn't think they'd get 312 kph even under the best conditions. They noted; however, that the test bike had only 350 miles on it and that broken in might have done better.

thanks for the info, haven't seen it previously

best conditions.....do they mean like a verified 311.5 on the salt flats? ;)

that dyno seems conservative

With only 350 miles on the clock, I'd suspect that the same bike would show more power later. My original 750 got noticeably stronger over the first 1200 miles. My 312 hasn't changed as noticeably, but that's probably because of two factors:

1) It was stupid-fast from the get-go.
2) As I get used to it, the terror abates slightly.

Also, I'm not sure that the MasterBike event is the best way to break in a bike.

Hey Steve,
thanks for the info. It is seldom that one finds the 0 - 60 specs.
Strabge that Cycle World is one of the few mags that are not bullish on the top end. Almost every reprot I have read states the top end at over 300.

On my last visit to our drag motorplex I won 3 out of 7 runs.

The losses were to an 08 Hayabusa ET 10.476
06 CBR1000 ET 10.244
06 ZX10 ET 10.500 ( my ET 10.577) :banghead:
04 Hayabusa ET 10.841 ( my ET 10.657) Go figure!

My best ET 10.517
My top speed was equal to the 08 Busa 229.1 kmph or 142.35 mph

The R1's chickened out! Now thats better than what some mag prints.

A guy walking around with the mic for the loadspeakers came up to me as I was staging and said " F%$#N awesome bike man" ... it was worth going just for that!

That's the number from their actual top speed test, although they did point out some reasons the speed was less than they expected. The extrememly low mileage on the bike seems like the biggest problem to me.
