Can anyone tell me what this noise is.

My bike makes this sound at idle and will generally only run for a minute or less, then when revved runs really rough.

I am working through injectors, spark plugs, ignition coils, soon to check valve clearances. But I would be really grateful anyone could help point me in the right direction.

Thanks

Did this start slowly? Or over time? That sound is unburnt fuel/backfire.

Quick, to do list:

- New plugs
- TB sync
- CO adjust
- Intake manifold screws tightening

More if this wont help.

I am not sure, it has done it in the past and seemed to clear. Now, hoving been sat for a long time it's started again.

However, I may be onto something. This evening, just on a hunch I hooked up my second battery via jump leads to the battery in the bike, just because I know the bike is sensitive to the condition of the battery so I wanted it to have maximum power for starting. When I started it, it ran fine, no noise. I left it for a good 10 min or so, with no issues. Then switched off, disconnected the second battery and started again, sure enough noise is back, it didn't cause a stall, but it was there.

I am wondering if its the battery was not providing enough kick to the ignition coils and the spark just wasn't strong enough. Bearing in mind it has brand new spark plugs in.

I have the battery on charge now so will test again another day.

I think I have got to the bottom of the issue. I left the battery on charge for a few days and stated the bike up yesterday. No noises.

This makes sense, as the 2 videos I have posted are a couple of years apart but both when there were battery issues. This first was when the battery wasnt being properly charged when the bike was running and the more recent one, the bike has been sat for a while and the battery has been used for a lot of cranking but not actually running the bike as it were, while I isolated other issues.

Just goes to show the importance of a properly working electrical/charging system in the bike.

Thanks for all the input guys.
