Warning lights came on during my test ride of a 2021 TVL plus center stand issue

I am considering buying a used 2021 TVL SCS and was fortunate enough to take it on a test ride. It ran great and I am impressed. Only problem was that during a stop at a red light while in first gear, the center red light plus left and right amber lights came on . I was on a little hill and the lights turned off eventually. I spoke with the owner and he was not sure what the lights were all about. The bike is like new with about 1k miles. Another problem is that the bike is very hard to get up on the center stand. I would appreciate it if someone could help with the warning lights coming on and why the bike is so hard to get up on the center stand. I have had other bikes including BMW 1250 GSA and they were not hard getting up on the enter stand.

Thanks,
Scott

I don't have the '21 manual, but here are the lights for the earlier bike (manual printed 2016):

As for the bike being difficult to get up on the center stand, perhaps the PO lowered it some amount.

No idea on the lights...would have to see which ones you were seeing. However, bike ran OK and you saw no Malfunction display?
Some bikes are harder than others to get onto the center stand. Design. Leverage, pivot point, etc. Different bikes require different techniques.
And if the owner had lowered the bike it would just make it that much more difficult

Just checking that you noticed to use handle for lifting purpose while standing down the ctr stand ?

Hi Guys, thanks so much for getting back to me. Lights 1 and 2 were flashing for maybe a minute or two and then went off. The PO is unknown as the bike was wholesaled it seems like . The seller sells cars and bikes, but is not a regular dealer. Yes, I think the bike must have been lowered. I am 6’2” and was a little cramped. I have a 2015 Aprilia Caponord that fits me well along with a BMW 1250 GSA. Have always liked the MV brand and do like this bike, but too many unknowns. I suppose I could take it to an MV dealer and have it restored to the standard height. Asking price is $17,550 and I did see one get sold here on the forum for 15k. Perhaps I can make an offer for $15k . I spoke with my brother who also saw the bike which looks brand new and he said I should be in love with the bike. So, there is that. Yes, it is under warranty, but do I want to make a lot of trips to the dealer to sort out any issues. Thanks again for your help. I will let you know if I get the bike or not.

I did find a couple threads that answered my question about the warning lights. The sales guy at the dealer said the bike was not lowered. So, I still need to sort that one out to determine why it is hard to get on the center stand. Thanks again.

Control lamp for the brake, so that the parking brake is not forgotten.
Got it, looks like the intent is a reminder.
Thanks,

I would be leery of any moto with that few miles that was wholesaled to a dealer...

Repossession by a bank ??? Happens all the time. I've been to the big auction center here in Atlanta where dealers go to get used bikes. You would be amazed at the number of low mileage Harley Davidsons that are repossessed.
Also from dealerships that go under.... I did a recall repair on a crated unit at the auction house one time. That's right...it got auctioned off still in the crate.
This is my first bike with a center stand, so I can't speak to how it might be different from other bikes. For me on the Turismo, it is all about the force put on the center stand by your foot/leg. In the beginning I kept trying to lift the bike with the handle that pops out and not using as much force down with my foot and it wasn't easy. Once I learned to put more into pushing down on the stand with my foot and using the handle mostly just to keep it steady (I hold the handlebar with my left hand, too), it goes up on the stand really easily.

That is how you should deploy all center stands. I learned using the leg is the key way back in the 70's.

I used to have a big 1973 Suzuki 750 water buffalo and as a 17 year old skinny kid, I would use the correct technique to get that bike on the center stand without any problems. The more I think about the MV TVL it really is a sweet bike. I did ask the seller where the bike came from and was told that the previous owner owned both the red 2021 and white 2020 , but when I asked him if the bike came from California he did not give me an answer. If it did come from a bankruptcy sale is that bad if the bike is in good condition? Just an unknown which gives a buyer pause for sure.
I wouldn't shy away from a repossessed or bankruptcy bike. That's where the deals are.
Thanks for the vote of confidence. BTW, it seems like the 2021 Euro version is the 2022 USA version, correct?

Sort of Yes because we get the bikes later; however, Model Year is based on Year of Manufacture and is coded into the VIN as the tenth digit.
Chuck…. Year of manufacture is not a factor in model year design. 2024 cars and bikes are being produced even now.
and thanks to tightening of regulations some models continued to be manufactured in the first months of the following year.
But USA historically gets last years MV models as far as colors, upgrades, etc marks as the current year.
reference my 2008 910R ….2007 in other markets. And my 2004 SPR….. listed as a 2003 model in other markets.
and the VIN 10th character is correct in both cases for the USA imported bikes.
so if Europe gets a cool new dash on the 2023 model, USA will see it on the 2024 model. Same bike…. VIN 10th character showing one later year model.

Really? I did not know that….and I’ll do a bit of research.
I have a SCS with the flashing lights, I was told its a reminder that its in gear when you are stoped with the clutch.
It does it at random time though..
