Like the title says, my F3 800 is getting maintained and prepped for the 2023 track day season. It's 90% there, with the goal of being ready to start riding in May. The original plan was to get its feet wet in the 2023 season. Couldn't resist taking it to the track last season... That little bike is special.

The build is straightforward for budget and reliability:

  • Pro Fiber fiberglass fairings
  • Woodcraft rearsets
  • GB Racing case savers
  • R&G Aero frame sliders
  • Pirelli TD SC3 tires, 120 70 17 front, 180 60 17 rear
  • AIM Solo DL data logger with the ECU cable

The picture below is from where everything started:

I am not super impressed with the Pro Fiber fairings. I used the Moto Forza fairings on the ZX6R and I had to do nowhere near the same volume of triming on those. The Pro Fiber fairings are the most ill fitting things I've seen. They'll fit but only when threatened with a Dremel. The bike won't be used for shows other than displays of speed in circles. Not the end of the world, but I'll end trying another fairing next time.

Got some paint slapped on the track bodywork. A nice shade of rattle grey haha. I didn't want to paint the fuel tank, so that kind of limits colors for the bodywork.

Next on the list is packaging the data logger. Eventually, I settled on using the M6 threaded hole underneath the top triple clamp to set the base. The bike doesn't have steering damper. The goal was to keep the standard dash visible in full tuck, the cable neatly wrapped up and the logger protected. The bracket is a piece of 3/4" x 3/4" aluminium square tube with bent sheet metal cut on the bench saw. With the side bolts, the sub-mount bolted to the standard AiM plate pops easily, so it can be switched bike to bike.
