I've got a 2014 F3 800 and after taking valve cover off I replaced all of the gaskets except the O-Rings around the bolt. Didn't realize I needed them until I did the valve cover clearance job. Anyway, when I put things back together I remember the O-rings being flat but the ones I got from evolution are round.

Both star twin and evolution show the same part number and description but I feel the part on my bike is not round. Maybe it got flattened after being on the bike? Anyone have a picture or access to help me make sure I'm replacing with the right piece?

Part # 800023113 o-ring 10.77x2.62

I went ahead and opened up the bike and it turns out the o-rings were just flattened out like you guys said. Thanks for the responses! Its interesting that they felt like plastic and felt like maybe they were supposed to be flat when new and possibly with a metal infrastructure. Thats what I've seen on other bikes but looks like the F3 800 is just a simple o-ring that just gets flattened.

Hopefully this thread helps someone else.

You might want to check the tolerance on that diameter......it's certainly not 0.01mm
:wink2:
Whatever...just quoting the post. Didn't even think about it. But you get the point. :grin2:

I only used silicone rtv on the half moon areas of the valve cover gaskets which I used new ones for. Now after also just replacing the bolt o-rings things look nice and clean. No oil seeping. Italian quality rings are plenty good when following the service manual correctly!
