Hi Guys,

i am going on track wednesday so if anyone can help quickly, much appreciated.

i wanted to change the clutch of the 1000r /y 2007) to the original anti slipping clutch of the 1078.

there is one really strange thing.

the 1000 r clutch looks like this

http://shop.startwintrading.com/en/products/f4/new-folder-31/clutch-assembly-24

ok.

now the 1078 anti slipping looks like this:

http://shop.startwintrading.com/en/products/f4/2008-2009-f4-312rr-1078/clutch-assembly-f4-r-r-1-1-312-my07-f4-rr-rr-1-1-312-3

what i find really strange is that parts 18+19 are assembled differently in the 1078. they are assembled there after one clutch and one separating disc. why is that? on the 1000R they are there first.

anyway, if i do it like in the drawing, the whole package gets thicker, because parts 18+19 do not blend in any more with the clutch disc. due to that the disc package is too thick and stands a little out of the basket.

is it possible that the drawing is actually wrong?

thx for help!

Cheers,

Robert

I think i found my mistake . i overlooked that disc number 4 is in second in the 1078, not first.

anyway what i am still wondering is:

what is the difference between discs number 5 and discs number 6?

and : in the 1000R clutch there is only one disc number 6 , in the 1078 there are 2 disc number 6.

does that mean i cant just swap the discs of the 1000r to the 1078 slipper clutch?

yeah i know , but thats what i have now :)

i also found out that discs number 5 and discs number 6 are slightly different . the material on the 6 ers is slightly broader, maybe to create more fiction.

the problem is: the 1000 disc set has only on 6er plate. the 1078er disc set has 2 6er discs. i only have the disc set of the 1000r. can i use the 1000r set although this means that one disc, that sould be a 6, would be a 5.?

Cheers,

Robert

Robert, use the bike as it is with its standard clutch till after your trackday, then take your time to install the slipper from the 1078 if you still want to.
The plates is easy to figure out if you use the Workshop manuals, which is what you should be looking at instead of the parts list at this stage.
I'd still recommend that you get something other than the standard 1078 slipper unit, like a Suter or STM ...etc.

i may have pulled the clutch Lever once when the clutch was out.. can that cause the prob?
