I am after a bit of advice. I have recently moved from the R1090 to a 2013 RR1090 (non ABS). I have noticed a lot of "clacking" going on when changing gears or rolling off the throttle and back on in traffic. It is not every gear change or throttle roll on from closed and it is not something I had on the R version. I am 95% certain it is clutch/gearbox related as it seems as if the chain is taking up slop or play in a harsh manner. Having said that, only very occasionally do I feel like the chain snatches. The bike is 3 weeks new, 1700Km's and a track day, so no real problem that I know of, just an annoying noise that I would prefer not to have.

I have bled the clutch to see if drag was the problem. I checked the tightness of the sprockets and have the chain adjusted per the manual. I did inspect the actuating rod for the clutch and that seemed fine, although no noticeable lubricant on it.
Is this normal or does it sound as though something is out of adjustment?

Thanks for any feedback/advice

Cheers

I suspect you may be hearing and feeling the slipper clutch operating. On deceleration, there is a mechanical click around 3500rpm, which can also be felt through the clutch lever. It is normal.

I remember there being a thread about this a couple months ago.

I hear the same thing. Sounds to me like it is coming from the airbox but general consensus is that it's the slipper clutch

Good to hear some one else is hearing this. Noise when you come back on the throttle, but only sometimes. My dealer said it was the slipper clutch. But I hadnt experienced this noise with other bikes with slipper clutch so wasn't convinced. Looks like dealer was right then.

Apparently i was told by an Mv specialist that the fuel injectors are also making this noise and is been mistaken as the cam chain tensioner ,Go figure. WHAT NEXT. Noise coming from the air box
