Hey guys, I found out last week that a guy I used to work with at Cagiva USA is running MV Agusta in the U.S. His name is Rob Keith.

I called him to say hi and had lunch with him yesterday. He gave me the basics on the new operation. In short, the parent company wanted to reduce the size of the operation in America and run it more like a true subsidiary with more control. Because they are shipping parts directly to dealers for Italy like Ducati, and are warehousing the bikes at a 3PL in Northern NJ, they can reduce the number of employees and costs here in the U.S.

If you don’t know Rob, he managed the Husqvarna Brand for Cagiva starting with Ducati N. Am in 1994, then with Cagiva USA form ’98 through ’08, and finally moving to BMW from mid-2008 through April of 2011, because BMW bought Husky in 2007. I asked him if he missed working with Husqvarna and he said he misses the dealers and customers, but is happier working with the MV company because he had developed a good relationship with them while working with the Husqvarna division.

I asked him what the priorities are and he told me selling the bikes and dealer development. He said dealers he currently has for MV are good, but there tons of open spots.

It’ll be interesting to see how it goes. For the hell of it I google-ed him and found the link below.
