Excuse my ignorance but are they just twin, (ideally) matching taps or some type of reserve arrangement?
Been faffing around today trying to tidy up the lines, fit filters and see if I can make some idling progress - not without hope. From the picture you can see the non-matching taps; I presume the square type Orlandi one is the more original? Both lines go directly into the carb which seems different from most of the pics I can find...

There's not a reserve system operating here afaik, so both taps should be in the down position when running. The square tap is likely the original or correct. I have two like it on my TR. The other tap*might* be from an older 2-stroke model - I don't really know.

I can't see from the photo but it *looks* like the 'banjo' on the top of the carb has two intake pipes? I have only one on my MA16b. You air filter is also different to mine which is an F6. Yours looks like an F5 or F11?

If I were you I'd take the thing apart and a) check to see you have all the correct components for the MA16b and b) give everything a good clean.

Choke is still showing 'on' here but I guess this is the same picture form before....

The previous info helped a lot. As you say I've got two fuel inlets which is different, although it says it's an MA16B. I think what has happened is that one of the taps (the non-original one) is now blocked as only one is draining the tank. After your initial advice I did get it running and idling reasonably well, but then this happened , so not without hope...!

If I understand your question ...

I can not say which is the original tap

But, I think that you have two taps' because when the left side of the tank is empty, you open the tap of the right tank to keep riding

That makes sense Xav - in view of the shape of the tank both taps function equally to ensure you get the last bit from each side.

Totally agree with Jon.

And keep both taps open when riding and make sure the fuel lines are going down nicely. Try to get rid of that slightly upward kink.
