Hi guys,
I have 2017 F3 800 and while im happy with the bike, it is bit cramped for my my long legs.
Also the details can be bit lacking, if you look close it shows its built on a budget. I know 1st gen F4 is a piece of art, did they start cost cutting with 2nd gen?
If i get an F4 it would be 2018 standard because i love the classic red/silver colour.
Does anyone have experience with F3 vs gen 2 F4?

Cheers

Can’t give you a comparison, but a good friend of mine has a 2007 F4 R. It’s a physically smaller bike than my 2010 F4. Both bikes are pretty standard and the newer one definitely makes a nicer noise. I would say the ergonomics are better on the newer bike, dash etc. I find it pretty comfy to ride, I’m 6 foot and I only get aching wrists after about 80 miles. It soon goes away after a stop for 5 minutes. I’ve got no issues with the quality on my bike.....

Also, are they still making new standard F4’s ? I’m also thinking about a new one before they go out of production....>:)

To me, the cost cutting started in 2009 with the 1st gen 312RR. The plastic and metal parts are visibly cheaper/flimsier.

Wow! That's a significant difference I would never have noted had they not been standing side by side. I love my 2007, but seeing that I am sure I would find the 2010 more comfortable also. (I'm 5'9")

Sadly happened on all bikes. The fasteners on the F3 turn white if someone drinks a bottle of water near them. My ZX6-R had SS fasteners, they didn't corrode (much), but they were made out of cheese and melted when you used them more than once.

Most bikes sadly have the decals applied after the paint not and not lacquered in, as cost saving method, which means you get polish and wax build up when you clean and eventually they peel off. :(

check the seat heights, I had a 2007 312r, and now have the 2012 RR, my wife has the F3 800 - you mentioned you have an F3 and are cramped. you will find the F4 is a bit more comfortable due to the width of the bike and not so much the rider seat height.

the Gen 1 was a taller feel to me than my Gen 2 but I have also not touched the riders adjustment .. either bike is FUN but I have to say and Arthur can attest, the GEN2 has some advancements that make it more fun to ride :)

I also feel the 1st gens are bigger, even though there is almost an inch less wheelbase. Could be the more bulbous nose and tail. Tank looks a bit wider too. Here's a pic of two of mine with factory suspension setups.
