Reading a FAQ about MV's I was a little surprised to find that the factory approved oils, AGIP racing 4T 10-60 and Motul 300 15-50 are a little on the thick side. I use these "thick" oils on air cooled twins.

Most other hi-performance 4 cylinder bikes spec out a 10-40 oil.

Is this what most people use?

These comments from Andrea Goggi are the reason for the oil FAQ:

------From yahoogroups '03-------

Another bit of informations: change oil every 6000 Kms. Seems banal, but any kind of problem related to wear can be influenced by oil change. We use AGIP Racing 4T 10-60 and it it really works well (it's not only a commercial issue).

We also have direct experience with Motul V 300 15-50, which is also a very good oil.

I dont'know in detail with other oils, so if You want to use something realy factory tested, choose AGIP or Motul.

Selection would surely be influenced by ambient temperatures where you live/ride. Cooler temp, Thinner oil.
