I recently had the return spring changed on my 1090rr for the new uprated version after mine snapped over in Germany. The gear change seemed fine for the first 1000 miles but it has got progressively stiffer each time I go out. I have to give it a real sharp tug when upshifting now.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Curious - Why the new uprated version? Is that what they replace em with after they break - I am waiting for an ETA from MV for the bloody spring that broke in my 990R.

Yeah the new spring is a hardened version. I was told that MV had sent a quantity to each dealer and were going to do a recall, then it all went quiet. I wonder if after testing they have realised that the new spring is actually too stiff.

is it possible that the location of the shifter on the splines is a bit out of alignment for the arc that your toe moves through the shift? when i first got my 910 the shifting was really really stiff, but as soon as i put on aftermarket rearsets, it was the lowest effort bike i've ever ridden. I think it had a lot to do with the way the foot pivots on the peg. I should have tried making some adjustments early on.

Interesting. I've got a set of rizoma rearsets fitted but I'm currently using the original gear lever. I've just ordered a replacement gear lever from Design Corse so I'll try playing about with the set up and see if that makes any difference.
