Went along the Melba Hwy and back the Maroondah Hwy.
And going past towns and seeing familiar landmarks burned to the ground.
And you see one house gone and the next untouched.
And all the trees blacken with ash. But showing allready signs of new green shoots growing.

There is a local mountain rd that I ride occasionally that suffered a forest fire 2 or 3 years ago (part of the televised wild fires here in Northern California) and it looks to be in about the same condition. The last time I rode it, they had just started the reforesttion work, so in about 20 years it should be nice. Very sad indeed.

The BBC coverage of last weeks F1 Grand Prix showed a piece on Mark Webber visiting some of the damaged areas and speaking to the locals.

It was quite a shocking and an emotional piece. Mark is a top man.

The ride is for a worthwhile cause and I wish you all the best.
