After another Thread (wont turn off) I started I have decided my SPU is most likely shot. I took it off this evening and noticed the dreaded green fuzz (corrosion) cominf from under one of the plugs.
Upon Closer examination I find the Saab name on the unit. Does anyone know if Saab was comissioned to build the SPU or do they use it on one of their vehicles?

The original SPU's were designed by SAAB and as most of us know, the Brutale's from 2004-2007 can be prone to failure - however, I've wrote this many times on the forum - once the SPU has been replaced, there have been zero recorded second failures.

Cheers

As hb88xx said the only Saab part in the SPU is one of the connector blocks. I have been down this rabbit hole myself a few years back. If the old SPU is playing up buy teh new replacement part, had my fitted a while now and no more problems

Thank you Jimbo. I noticed the newest forum sponsor, STAR TWIN, has a keen price on a new one. I'll look further into it....

8000A9615 (First serie B4-750 till no. #004321)

8000A9300 (B4-750 frame no. #004322 and later and all B4-910/989/1078)

8A00A9615 replacement for 8000A9615 (A and 0 difference!)

8A00A9300 replacement for 8000A9300 (A and 0 difference!)

You may/can use 8A00A9300 for first serie B4-750 (modification needed of cabling! but is no official writing. The other way around is not possible.

hb88xx,

Great piece of info there with the range of part numbers and replacements.

Makes sense to me as the wife's brutale was an early 750 model.

Now highly modified and has a 910 engine.

Thanks
