Words that come to mind: soulless, mass produced, cookie cutter.....

Words that promptly follow: Damn that new R1 is badass!!! :)

P.S. I'm a Yamaha guy at heart, don't let the GSX-R in my signature fool you!

Yea! Those eyes on the front look like a cartoon that's been pumped with redbulls... What's with the holes around the lights? is that where the Ram air collectors are now?

Cool bike though - I've liked yamahas since my first bike - TZ125.

Seems like a blast to ride, but a pig to look at.
+1...I guess this sums it up the best for me as well....at some point I actually liked the R1 look (around 2005) but these days...ah well....I may be biased since I started focusing on making my life more Italian...the garage is getting better....the bed is still available for some Italian women though...I am always open for inquiries.... :naughty:

Enjoy the bike nonetheless....

Agree!

Also agree with ASM the 05 was a good looking bike, but still plain. Now they have this hideous monstrosity, I will admit it sounds effin sweet though

Nice bike though, how do you like it? :)

Well, CONGRATS Tim... I wouldn't mind having one of those in my garage as well.

when are you getting another MV?
I'll generalize your queries and I'll answer them in 1 post.

Darkside: This is a mass produced bike with over 3 times the amount
of production each month than MV's production each year. Appeal of
the new R1 is still high as there are only about 6~8 sold in HK but as
time goes by, it'll become one of many on the road.

Other than appeal. Performance and handling is great on the R1.
Extremely powerful, torque builds up down low and as you take the
revs above 10K, there's another surge of power. Very tractable engine,
easy to control the power with 3 modes (Standard, A, B).
***Warning, only use A mode in high speed corners***
The throttle was too sensitive with A mode.
Great bike to be with, not too hot compared to MV (Only 118C in a
traffic jam).
Speaking of the handling, it's a very nimble and stabled bike. Best of
both worlds. If this bike wasn't nimble and stabled, the A mode is
useless.

One more thing, thanks to MV having 6 piston brakes as stock for
sportbike. Yamaha has copied it well, 6 piston monobloc radial
calipers brake like sticking a rod in between the forks and rim.

To conclude I'll tell you one thing which I wish it was true. The MV
is a better ride.:shitfan:

Debrun: Yes those massive holes around the headlights are ram air
intake tunnels. Ugly compared to MV but it just works.:shitfan:

Ben: To answer your question...

Will sell it but will get another one when my financial input is higher
than my output.

***For those who has a nice big garage, I know it's cramped, messy and dirty but it's a lot better now. This was before cleaning it.
