Hello all, after a recent run in with the law :shitfan:I am now required to get a vehicle inspection done at the local shop.

I got a defect placed upon my 750 F4 for a rear number plate that is too high.
I know that when I go to get this lifted that they will do a noise test and what with these Silmoto mufflers I dont expect they will come even close to passing.
In Adelaide an inspection carries a fee of around $150 so I dont need to be going back a second time and paying the government even more of my hard earned $$

So . . . . i now have to quiten things down a bit before I go and I pose this question......

Does anyone know of a safe and suitable method of making these Silmotos quiter that can be reversed after the inspection or the alternative is to either borrow a set of standard mufflers or buy a set.

can anyone be of assistance here.

Thanks in advance

P.S. i,m in Adelaide Australia..

Go to a car inspection place instead of a proper bike inspection joint, similar to pink slips in NSW.

If your worried about the Silmotos being too noisy then put a set of stockie cans (if you have them). Alternatively you can fabricate a blanking plate with smaller holes which reduces the outlet exhaust holes making them quiet just for the inspection.

If your in Sydney I lend you my set.

Thanks for the offer minime but I,m here in Adelaide.
When you say about reducucing the outlet do you mean to fabricate a pipe which will slip inside the mufflers from the outlet or did you have some other idea in mind.??

I have done similar things before on other bikes and was wondering if anyone else has done a mod to silmoto,s and what they did to get an m.o.t. pass.

I think that I have to go to the inspection station but will get more info on that when things get a bit closer to being ready.

Thanks again for your response and keep the idea,s coming.....

Hi, I really dont suppose they'll come close either!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I once read about getting some tube of just the right diameter, flattening one end quite a bit and fastening it over the end of the silmotor muffler with a metral jubilee clip (X 4 of course). You end up with 4 mufflers that are extended in length and have reduced outlets. This might be a cheap fix.

Another thing for added authenticity are these stickers, available from ebay. I have them on my bike and i don't know what the laws are in Oz but here in the UK I wouldn't be without mine:

Something else Triple that I've just thought of.....

If you try this, I would chamfer the inside of the tube with a file at the end that is going to slip over the silmotors - just to avoid any scratches. I'd also cut two slots in the slip-on end, so that the tube will close up and stay put when you nip the jubilee clip tight. Finally, the external sleeves of the mufflers (whether they be carbon or titanium) may be slightly smaller in diameter than the machined alu end caps. To overcome this and also to prevent scratches i would wrap some paper gasket material (the sort that comes in a square sheet) around the external sleeve before slipping on the tube.

The result would look naff but could be removed in a jiffy.
