When I picked up my R from its 600 mile service I was given a book with the details of the service entered. I have only just noticed that the book is titled 'Warranty Book'. This looks like it is specifically for recording warranty work. Should I have been given a separate service book with each of the services set out?

No, that's the service book. I guess they call it that because if ther services are not carried out and the pages sent to MV they'll invalidate the warranty.
