OK, I know it sounds like a stupid question, but I don't want to break anything. Per the OM, you just lift the rear on the seat up and forward; no screws or clips to remove. However, when I do that, the seat bends up a couple of inches but does not come off and I feel like something is about to break. Just how hard and far do you have to pull up the rear of the seat to get it off?

There is a metal clip. Look closely. Pull it towards you and presto!

Pull the metal clip or the rear of the seat? Where is the metal clip located? And, where do you stand to pull the metal clip or rear of the seat toward you?

You can only access it once you have removed the pillion seat....so first remove the pillion seat. Once you have done this, look through the bodywork from the pillion seat towards the underside of the main seat and you will see a metal tab - pull this to release....

Now that was easy. The owners manual could at least point out the latch like the workshop manual does...

Hi,
I am not completely sure about the F4, but on the F3 there is a rail attached by 2 allen key bolts which slots into a mount on the seat. Yep you're right about being wary of the bend, but if it is the same set up, then it will come off no problems. It might help if you pop it up at the front.
