Anybody else catch the quote from him in the Pre-race show?????

"For sure, after MotoGP maybe there is cars for me. I like NASCAR and Indy, and I follow these races from Europe. The racing is much different, much longer races with different strategy. So I think for sure after motorcycles, I will be in cars, and why not in America?"
Hmm....Rossi in the US...Rossi in the US racing Nascar no less....sweet, Daytona is an hour away!:hyper

let's be honest.... it's only a matter of time before NASCAR has races in europe, the way that F-1 has come to north america for 2 races a year
The Brits have a somewhat similar series, but I don't think Europe has much interest in NASCRAP.

And I damn sure hope Rossi doesn't debase himself to that.

we all hate NASCAR....
but that series is the only one on earth making money right now
every NASCAR race brings in more money in entrance fees and aftermarket sales....
than the entire season of F1

you DO know that, don't you?

That's not true to my knowledge. I think several other series are making money.

I would guess NASCAR is making the most money...no accounting for people's taste I guess.

If I was going to race a "stock" car, I'd want to head to Aus.

some might make money
F1 has been in trouble for years..... too high tech to break even... and stuff like that

indy car doesn't do well..... neither does cart in the US

as i stated above.... i can't STAND NASCAR..... but, it is a RELIGION in the US that generates MILLIONS WEEKLY for some crazy reason.

the funny thing is that, with his EGO.... i can see Rossi trying to make a name for himself in NASCAR...

european driver has EVER made any inroad into that closed society of racers....
sounds like a great challenge for someone with the biggest HEAD in racing :)

I'm all for more motorcycle racing than auto racing, but let's be real guys!! The great majority slam NASCAR; yes, it has a "stereotype" that I'm not into, but I still believe there is lots of talent in those guys. Don't crap on drivers talents because you don't like the marketing.

As for European drivers in NASCAR...anybody remember a guy named Mario Andretti? OK, maybe not considered by some as European or American, but he kicked butt in CART, F1, and then won a couple big NASCAR races...Daytona, etc.

I've done my share of professional dirt track racing...Chris Carr, Ricky Graham, Kenny Roberts Sr., Jay Springsteen, Scotty Parker, Dick Mann, etc. Most of the true racers respect greatly a great driver in ANY series of motorsports.

Does anyone remember recently when Juan Pablo Montoya and Jeff Gordon "switched" cars for a TV publicity stunt. Gordon's time in the F1 car was quite good. In fact he did not have the slowest time of actually, full-time F1'rs on the same track.

I'm not saying more NASCAR; I just want to pay respect to extrememly talented motor races in many series. I'd love to see a series with various venues and drivers from both 2 and 4 wheel. I basically love to see speed and truly competitve drivers, even if the stereotype is certainly not my thing.

Don't get me wrong; I think the top MC racers perform at a higher level than any other form of motor racing.

The majority of NASCAR drivers are specialists that would suck at other types of racing. The normal route there is through sprint cars. Even legendary sprint car drivers can't always make a switch into a NASCAR.

Guys that try to leave NASCAR, with a few notable exceptions like Jeff Gordon, would/will get clobbered.

And the converse is true, jumping into NASCAR and going well isn't easy against guys who've spent their whole life mastering oval track racing.

I hate the cars, I hate the rules, I hate the tracks. The drivers are OK. The marketing is great. The only part I respect.

Lest anyone forget, racing at the pro level is a marketing exercise.

"Zey don't race on reeel race track" and his smirk after the comment = tongue in cheek IMO
 Now that makes sense. I couldn't figure out what in the hell Rossi would want with that bunch of Luddites.

I'm not sure I agree too much with all of the bumping - which I see has gotten MUCH more extreme and leads to retaliation. Where is the skill when there is bumping!

i have watched almost every F1 race for a decade... longer than most americans
but....
to be honest, the races are some of the most boring ever staged
week after week.....
1. the same folks win
2. there are no lead changes at all
3. most tracks have NO PLACE TO PASS
4. most time first and second place gap is 10 plus seconds

take away the exotic (to americans) locales and the incredibly technology and you are left with not too much to look at, quite frankly
