Can anyone chip in on how I will know if a Rivale seat is a 14 or 15 model variant? Fancy picking up a Rivale seat for my Stradale for the more "spirited" rides when without the Mrs ;)

Don't want to pay a lot of money for it so looking on fleabay just need to be sure I'm getting the right one. Is it possible to tell from the green sticker or dimensions of the seat?

I picked this seat on a stock Rivale in the dealer showroom.
Slammed it on my Stradale.
Says on the stamp 2013-10

So any seat marked around or after this date will probably fit.

HTH

Depends on the size of the rider but the original seat on the Stradale :surprise: is ungainly and unconfortable.
Since the Stradale is made to be steered from the handlebars ***and the seat*** original seat is a true PIA.

I was under the impression it needed to be a 15+ seat after the Rivale changed to a larger petrol tank as the older model seat wouldn't fit to the Stradale larger tank?

This would suggest any Rivale seat will fit?

Lunatics run the place

Probably not.

Only the 16l tank Rivale seat would do.

But even with spare-parts dept at MV run by certifiable lunatic morons they wouldn't launch two parallel productions of confidential and different sizes of seat, for the Rivale.

Rational thinking, would imagine a Rivale seat stamped around 2013/10 or 2014 to be
Stradale compatible.

Is that picture of the seat on your bike? I see it fits but not properly so I do need a '15 year seat made for the 16ltr tank Rivale and not the earlier '14 model that had the 14ltr tank.

I have had a look at the parts catalogue and on Startwin's site and they only list one part number for the Rivale seat so I'm not sure if it's a 14 or 15+ year version 8000B8431 is the part number. Can someone with a 15 version 16ltr Rivale tell me what the part number is under their seat, should be on a green sticker?

Thanks.

If the seat won't fit

Is that picture of the seat on your bike?
Yes.

I see it fits but not properly ...
Original fitted exacly the same.

...so I do need a '15 year seat made for the 16ltr tank Rivale and not the earlier '14 model that had the 14ltr tank...
'Zactly.
The longer seat used by the earlier model won't fit.
Not properly, not at all.

Can't tell the part number.
Seat you see has about 30 000 km with 19 stones on it.

Had it already reupholstered, so no more sticker on it.

Saddler:
-"Bike looks like new why don't you ask for a new seat on Warranty?"
-"It's a MV!"
-"I see."

'twas about 20€

Reason I asked is it seems it doesn't fit around the tank and the bigger tank has pushed the front of the seat up causing the crease. If this is how the Rivale seat fits to the Stradale then I don't think I'll bother

Nope
nothing pushes against the tank.
The back stop fits exactly in the lock.

The crease results from moving some weight around.
The fabric of the seat is in one piece from front to back.

Tightening and restapling, no more crease.

The rubber pads are worn and the thin plastic bottom rubs against the under things..

If this is how the Rivale seat fits to the Stradale then I don't think I'll bother
That's why I posted the pic.

Also this Stradale is the everyday ride, has lots of miles on the clock.

Restapled, 600 mi ride, no crease!

Practical vs cosmetic, function over form :smile2: all that.

Just to bring this thread back again...

I'd like to get the Rivale seat for my Stradale, but wanted to confirm here whether any year of Rivale seat will fit?

I'm looking at purchasing the Corse seat from http://www.evolutionbike.it/mvagustastore/index.php/mvcorse/rivale/spsam001rv.html.

I though the original seat was fine when I brought the bike home (sitting on a motorway for an hour), but Monday's ride to Moto Corsa revealed that on more varied roads the seat is the most uncomfortable thing on earth! Numb bottom and crushed nuts; I'd like the option to have another child at some point! :)

Cheers!

Nick, I have that seat on my '14 Rivale. In comparison with the stock seat it is 'slightly to somewhat' more comfortable than the stock seat. If you're looking for a dramatic improvement in comfort, I'm not sure that seat will do it. It looks tons better though.

thanks for the reply!

So you're saying the Corse seat is more comfortable than the standard rivale seat? I mean, if the standard rivale seat is more comfortable than the stradale seat then that's really good news!

The MV Corse Rivale seat is a little more comfortable than the standard '14 Rivale seat. I've not sat on a Stradale seat.

Day o day o, daAYay oH...

I hesitate, izzat
Day-oh De-o (Banana boat) ?
Or maybe
Hey ukniem, Hey ukmiem, iecho razyk, iecho da raz...(Vulgar boatmen)?

... I've not sat on a Stradale seat.
"deo, deooooh
Mi back dis a bruk wid bare exhaustion"

I did
for the first 600 Stradale miles.

Just one word: Never again.

The original Stradale seat driver must be of a very peculiar build.
Rides with a fiendish glee, a hard plastic bump grinding his asscrack.

Cool, now I just need to know if it definitely fits!
If the seat doesn't fit, you must send it

back

... sounds like that's a yes then?
"Iecho raz" russian (in Volga boatmen song) for one more time.

It's a maybe.

You get a pre 2013 Rivale seat it might not fit.
Post 2013 Rivale got the larger 16l tank, same as the Stradale.

Post 2013 Rivale and Stradale seats can be swapped, perfect fit.

After the swap the steal^H^H^H^H errm ... dealer
told the mark lusting after the Rivale that stood next to my new Stradale
that he got a bespoke Rivale seat, with classy red stitching, instead of the dumb plebeian uncomfortable thin flat seat standard on the Rivale.

At no extra cost.

Rivale buyer rode happily into the sunset with my 600 miles used Stradale seat.

So unless you get an older (before 2013) Rivale seat,
it's a simple swap with the Stradale seat.

Only thing.
Couldn't happen with the original Stradale seat.
The Rivale seat is upholstered with a long narrow one piece of material.

An hefty rider moving back and forth a lot will ruin the fit of the seat cover in less than 10 000 miles or one year of daily use.
Whichever comes first.

Had the seat cover re-stretched and re-stapled by a local saddle-maker
for a king's ransom, about 20€.
Obvious :crying: warranty claim.
