I was told be the mechanic at my local dealership that the whole drim needed replaced for the F4 to reverse the shift pattern.

i did a search here and found a couple of people here were asking the same question.

did anybody here actually reverse the shift pattern on the F4? If so how and with what parts?

That is one way to do it, and the cleanest. But most people, myself included, just install rearsets like Sato's which incorporates it's own shift lever and a linkage. the linkage can then be swapped, like your GSXR, to give GP Shift.

it's like this on a lot of bikes. No all bikes come with a shift linkage, some have the shift lever attached directly to the transmission. My CBRXX for example is like that. Funny enough, my RC51 came with a linkage, but installing the lever off my CBRXX turned it into GP shift. :)
