How do you guys remove the EPROM chip from its position in the ECU?
The guide in the MV FAQ mentions using an plastic EPROM removal tool, but I have been unable to source one locally at 2 supply stores, and I'm wary of trying to prize it out when I'm not sure of how much pressure is required.

What sort of supply stores have you tried?

I got a ceramic one from an electronics store. It was only a couple of dollars.

careful not to touch the edges of the ECU housing as it may short out and you can say "bye-bye" to that eprom chip.

Best thing to do is disconnect the battery before you try anything.

Medium sized vise grips set for a gentle grab.

mmmm vice like grip or grip like vise...
I remember an early girlfriend used that type of anomality - but that was a long time ago !!:toothless

Rents - I tried Dick Smiths & Jaycar without any luck.

I touched the edges of my chip and it was fine, only when I put it in the wrong way did it short out:banghead:
