Do you really need one? I mean unless you lose a balance weight, the tyre fitters re-balance the wheel electronically every time you have the hoop replaced don't they?

You don't need it if you get your tires replaced at the dealer. But if you have them changed elsewhere, the standard adapters most people have don't accomodate the MV wheels. So in that case it's helpful to have your own.

The nearest dealer is an hour away but wouldn't buy tyres there anyway. I get my tyres from a mate's shop. I take it that places where you guys reside are much better equipped than where I'm from.

Don't buy my tyres from a bike dealer as such but a specialist motorcycle tyre supplier about 20 miles from where I live. They have all the specialist gear for fitting and balancing. I bought a pair of Mich Pilot Powers for my Evo III and they cost me £175 incl. fitting and balancing. I just removed the wheels myself and took them over in the back of the car. Living on a small overcrowded island does have it's advantages sometimes. :toothless

Absolutely not. My local MV guys are excellent. I consider myself fortunate to have them almost on my doorstep (14 miles away actually). But we're drifting off tack again, supposed to be talking about balancing tools aren't we? :toothless
