Now i have owned both mv agusta , and aprilia, and love them both dearly. But lets just have a little fun and debate these historical racing manufactures. To me this isn't as easy of a debate as you might think at first glance.

Yes MV has won 75 world titles, with 275 victories. all were in motogp and span over decades, and they competed in 4 classes during these years.

Aprilia on the other hand has 47 titles counting the most recent 125 class win and have over 291 wins in moto gp. but the debating factors are as follows. one aprilia only competed in two classes over roughly the same period of time that mv competed in many years ago 4 but yet has acrewed more victories. Number 2 they have also won a premier class championships (manufacture, and rider) that mv has not. along with 25 additional wins.

This is just meant to be a friendly debate between the two powerhouse figures in the motorcycling world.

The more thought the better

Who cares..............

This is posted on an Agusta forum what do you think the reactions will be.
Yes an MV Agusta forum, even though there is some on here that like Aprilia it's obvious where the passion is.
As for you topic I don't think we will ever see such a dominance of racing that MV gave us through the late '50s, '60s & early '70s ever again from any one manufacturer.
1958-1972 MV won the 500cc premier class, 15 consecutive years!:drummer:

The bigger issue is relevance--MV today is the same in name only--Really has zero connection to the MV of old, and no right to claim its victories as its own. The same could be said for Aprillia, and even Ducati.
Honda and Yamaha, etc., on the other hand...

All this talk about what who won what title and when is just ridiculous....the fact is that when they did not win title, they LOST a title......PERIOD.

BUT if you really want to heap praise on any one manufacturer, lets talk about Hyosung...yeah thats right UNDEFEATED in WSBK, MOTOGP, AMA Superbike, Superstock, NASCAR, Sprint Cars, Late Models, Go Carts, Lawnmower Racing, Beltsander Drags and Demolition Derby!!!!!

apparently bordi says mv will be racing again in wsbk, but why shouldnt any manufacturer claim what they won in the past, that just like saying the a football team shouldn't claim its past championships

15 years of dominance is a feat there is no question about it no matter how competitive it was back then, but on the other hand for aprilia to reach almost 300 wins competing in only 2 classes instead of for , in a shorter period of time, do you see how that can bring the same sort of perception of dominance?

IF it's the same company, or can at least trace some semblance of lineage, sure (like Honda), but what part of modern MV is related to the old one? NOTHING, except a name and a logo. Heck, the F4 was nearly a Ducati instead of an MV; Coulda just as easily been a Cagiva too.
