question on 08 910 R and 08 910S models

ok basically i found someone with a leftover 08 910r in stock and they are asking around 12k dollars for it and a used 08 910s with 4500 miles for 8.5k dollars

so my question is two fold.

first is this a good price for each bike?

and second i noticed everyone said that the 08 910 have most of the electrical gremlins worked out but its not for sure, so which one is the better deal and is the extra stuff of the r worth the extra money over the s and which one is more reliable of the two?

if you want send me a message with your advice.

thanks.

I think that you can do better. I paid less than those prices for my 2008 910R with 2k miles on it. Although, if the '08 is considered new the warranty is worth something extra for sure. My bike runs great with no issues, now with 5k miles. 2007 might be just as good I can't comment on that one. GL on the search the Brute is a really nice bike...worth the effort to find the right one.

thanks for the replies guys, yeah i was thinking they were a little high in price but one is "still in the crate with full warrany" so i understand what that one may be little high.

remember both prices are starting points as far as i'm concerned, no negotiations have taken place.

ok here is a follow up question, has anyone heard of any dealers in the US giving discountes on the 990r? i understand that msrp is 15,000 Dollars, the best i have heard of is some dealers giving around 1,000 dollars off msrp, but has anyone gotten a new one for 13k or so?

Just wondering what is reasonable and what is not for negiations purposes for an 2010 990r, so i at least know if i'm getting close to what the market price is for one.

The 2008 910R is a great bike with a MSRP around $16~17K. Warranty is certainly worth some $$. You should also get some goodies, like a cover and battery tender. No bugs in my 2008 (15+K miles so far).

Negotiate a good price and go forward.... and, yes, the 2010 models are markedly improved. Remember this, they only bring a few hundred MV bikes to the USA in a given year. Only about 25 or so of the Orange Brutale 910S.

You can't expect the same deep factory price reductions like the Honda CBR1000R, where you can buy a left over 2007 for about $7000....they brought about 10,000 of those into the US.

You can buy the cheaper second hand one and then put an Mv Corse exhaust kit on it, good rearsets (Gilles or Rizoma, i have both and i prefer Gilles)and Michelin Power Pure tires and you have a devil between you,re legs ;)

i'm still considering the new 990r and also will have to check out the crated 910r 2008 because well, if the dealer is willing to come down a few dollars then it might be worth it, afterall if he coldn't sell a 08 bike in the last 2 years that shows something about the dealership not being able to move that bike. so hopefully i can get a deal and finally get one of these bikes either way. :)
