I about to trailer two partially faired bikes 650 miles on an open bike trailer. What are some good "quick" methods of protecting the headlight and painted surfaces from rocks, possibly thrown by the tow vehicle.

I do not have the luxury of ordering some 3M or other protective film, and I'm unable to fit mud flaps on the tow vehicle.

What improvisations have others used?

Thanks
Dick

You can purchase rolls of that cling wrap film at Staples or many hardware stores .... moving supply companies (like U-Haul) sells it , too. You could wrap additional protection (i.e.: foam strips, cardboard) in as you wrap your bike for the trip. Cheap and easy.

The answer (from the Duc boyz in Oz (Wasp 1000) was da bomb!

A layer of bubble wrap, a few quick and tight layers of common kitchen variety of Cling plastic wrap and some tape where needed.

A pair of bubble wrap bags slipped onto the mirrors and several layers of e-z peel painters masking tape protect a few leading edges.

Thanks to all who contributed,
Dick
