Hi Fellows,
I am interested in purchasing an f3 800. I received the following quote from a dealer and I was wondering if you think this is a fair price (I appreciate all your responses):

the prices that I gave you included freight prep, sales tax, doc and registration. The bikes usually go out the door for $18,296.28. MSRP in the motorcycle world is the biggest marketing scam going. Not a single manufacturer builds the cost to ship the bike to us (it is going up to $525.00 per bike on the 2015 models) or to un-crate and spend 2-3 hours prepping the bike for sale. Sale tax and registration is a cost to the state set by the state of NY.

Truthfully, it does not matter what we think.

What matters is what you think is fair.

Well shipping bikes from Italy to the US is likely costing a few bucks.
Building a bike to US specs for the US market only and homologate it all state legal is another expense.
Look what they charge in Europe and multiply it 1,25 (current exchange rate)
Than think about what a labor hour costs in a dealership.
Might it even takes a guy to help.
Than think about the 5% dealer margin MV is giving Your dealer for the sale.
So do You want the dealership to have a beer after a sweaty day ?
Might You want to come back one Day for service or a mapping update.
The last is also for free, the dealer gets nothing to it from MV and he has to buy the diagnosis tool and microsoft computer by self.
And might You can find someone out of state who wants to sell his inventory for less.
That would be than Your cheaper option I guess.
