Hey All,

Looking at getting an orange 08 910S with about 3800 miles on it. looks amazing and hear mixed reviews for daily commute which i would use it for. Going to test ride one close to me this weekend to see if it fits for me but my question is whats a fair price for a relatively stock bike basically no mods (hes asking 6400). Also is there anything preventative that could be done to fix rear hub issues? Thanks for the help!

Welcome to the forum.
It's difficult to say if that's a fair price as you haven't included your location.
Apart from the known problems (SPU upgrade, Hub servicing including not to overtighten the hub pinch bolts, headlight glass falling out), the brutale is a great bike and should be great as a daily commuter as long as you're not too tall! (it's perfect for my 5'8"/173cm frame). The new generation Brutales (from 2010 onwards) are a bit more spacious.
All the problems are pretty straightforward to sort by yourself, and a bonus is that the MV's are great bike to work on. so much easier than any Jap bike.
Also this forum is a great source of information and help with a bit of banter thrown in!!
I say GO FOR IT!! you won't regret buying a Brutale!!

I think 5'10" shouldn't be an issue for comfort.
Love the orange colour scheme. there aren't too many of those on the road.
As for the price. It seems pretty fair, but the forum members on your side of the pond should have a better idea. Plus it's an OBO price, so you should be able to get it for less, as there aren't masses of people looking at buying an MV (strange but true!!!).

If I were in the market for one of those I'd jump on that beauty. :mouthwate
Price seems fair for the low miles.

Do it.

fair enough, i saw that there is a place in minneapolis Heinanan or something selling off MV Brutales for almost 9K seems kinda unreal. Think id still swing for the orange, just looks too good.

my 2008 910S has 30,000 commuting miles and I love it, was getting idle stutter and stall, had fuel injectors refurbished with marked improvement. Still learning about engine mechanics and bought new 1090 from Heinen's and breaking it in. I replaced the hub at 24,000 and upgraded headlight as original was disappointing in dark country roads. I haven't decided which bike to give to my son yet. Thought I would give him 2008 but I think I like it better than the 1090 even with the extra power- not much use the extra unless you are on the track.

Buy it....

Hubs...... reduce pinch bolt torque to 15lbft/20Nm

Add a mm ot or 2 to the chain sag........

32,000+ mi and burned out 2 low beams

Battery replaced at 8 years

Most reliable bike I've ever owned in.......1,546,000+ miles

According to a friend at MV USA back in 2009, there are only 25 of those orange 910S in the USA. A very limited number were produced.
It is by far and away my favorite color next to my White 910R.....

Very reliable bike. Might want to contact Spencer Seats (google him) for a seat pad improvement. And heavier bar ends to help with handle bar buzz at commute cruising speeds.

Great bike..... mine has been very reliable.

Rode it and amazing! Main gripe is the touchy throttle, are there any remedies for this?

Yep, fit a Power Commander 3 and have a custom dyno tune done. That sorts the throttle response.
Sharon (my Missus), has just had a custom Dyno tune done on her 910s, and it makes a world of difference, plus an increase in power.
With the PC3, Arrow Thunder (stubby) exhaust, BMC air filter, decat midpipe and Iridium plugs, her bike now makes 138PK (bhp) at the rear wheel, with a much smoother ride!

Just read that sorting out the tps remedies this to a point. Worth looking into or just a power commander or microtek?

TPS reset and throttle body balancing will certainly help, but fitting a Power Commander will refine that even more.
A Microtek is a great bit of kit, and will sort out all your fuelling issues, but it was a bit pricey for our budget!!
