I have had my Brutale 910S since new in 2005 without any problems until today. It is a UK spec bike so the lights are on when the engine is running although I have brought it with me to France.

I went for a ride and when I got back parked it back in the garage. About an hour later I was in the garage for something else and noticed that the headlamp was flickering on and off. It is just the headlamp, not the tail light as well. The ignition key wasn't in. The bike hasn't been near water or been washed for months (no need, dry roads in the south of France). The lights act normally when the engine is running.

The only way to turn the light off is to disconnect the battery. Any ideas where to start looking?

Regards,

James

Could be the SPU starting to play up? This I believe is the sealed box underneath where the fuses are located and contains the various relays.

However, check all connections first, but in view of the fact that you say the key was not in the ignition, it would strongly point to the SPU.

Others have had similar problems. Unfortunately I am not aware of any easy fix other than purchasing a new SPU from your local dealer, or better still one of the site sponsors.

Regards

Any idea how much an SPU is (in either euros or pounds) and who can supply me one at a sensible price.

Many thanks for the replies and help so far.

You might want to put a WTB ad in the classifieds thread of this web site and contact the site sponsors.

If you are in France, you could also try posting something on http://www.mvagustaforumfrance.com/forum/
