O2 sensor error... (now with moar exhaust issues)

2018 F3 675 w/ 488 miles



So got a Lambda sensor error. Shop is saying it's because I removed the passenger pegs and the exhaust is moving. Then tried to blame the bike getting to max temp on that as well. Told them "don't think so" as the temp issue occurred before I touched the pegs.



Has anyone else removed the pegs and had issues? Is there a part I need to bolt on to fill the top bolt on the exhaust? I call bs but figured the hive here would know.

I thought so too, so I put a call out to MV USA so I can hear it straight from the horse's mouth. I love calling BS when people lie to your face and you 100% know they are feeding you shit.

This is where the sensor is located:

Removing a foot peg clamp hanger is not going to have any real effect. People replace the entire aft-end of this exhaust with no ill effect on the sensor.

Ok so direct from the horse's mouth, MV USA told me that the bolt point at the top of the exhaust needs to be secure. So I need to fabricate a bracket or replace the passenger pegs. Previous years do not even have that mounting point so I don't know. fml

Well....If there is a hanger on the muffler, then it is there to support the muffler and should be used. That said, would not have affect on the o2 sensor.

But you will probably have cracking or other problems with the muffler from lack of mechanical support for its mass against the inertia of riding over bumps and the vibration from the engine.

Ok so there was a design change for 2018 the muffler / exhaust system is heavier, hence the bolt point. Makes sense, effin (can I curse here?) EPA. There is a local guy I will be using that is "the guy" for Ducs and MVs and we will be gutting the exhaust and remapping it. That will probably alleviate that, he'll know I'm sure.


So as for the temp...this is straight from the MV "tech" I've been emailing. I say tech in quotes because they seem to be nothing more then monkeys flinging shit and banging wrenches.


"There is no cross reference between the lines on the temperature display and actual temperature. "Average" temperature is dependent upon ambient temperature, speed. RPM, etc., so it can vary widely. As such I cannot give you a full answer. As I mentioned, temperatures can reach > 230 degrees F.


Did the top segment of the temperature display start to flash and a "STOP ENGINE" warning appear?"

So 3 bars can mean 190 or 200 or 170, depends if the sun is shining?


That has got to be the most retarded thing I've ever heard.


If a display reads MAX usually that is a sign "hey buster this thing needs to cool off a bit"


So I basically just got told, hey ride it till the Stop Engine your shit's about to explode dummy light pops. IF I see it. Should I keep my eyes glued to the dash for the next 4 months in the Las Vegas Summer? :|

There are two temperatures sensors in theses machines. One feeds the dash as a courtesy indicator and the other feeds the ECU for engine control. The two do n
ot correlate. If your coolant system is full and everything appears to be working, think fans, then ride it.

Seems silly to me, but what do I know right haha.


It gets fk'in hot though. I'm not the tallest rider, and flat footing at a light is more than just uncomfortable with the heat to my leg. Sigh.

@cccpNyC: Would you please put your bike in your signature line so folks don't have to keep going back to the OP to figure out model and year?


Were it my bike, I would refill the coolant system, making sure to fill the voids, and keep an eye on it.

For reference, I have a 2015 B3 800RR. It runs mid-indication on the dash. It doesn't feel anywhere near as hot as my 312R.

So I got an update, they are replacing the radiator cap with a higher pressure one and refilling the coolant to ensure it's gtg with no voids. We will see. :)
