That was cool Noel, but I actually enjoyed the 10:00 minute turdley diesel better. The 918 driver was clinically antiseptic. His car never seemed to scream bloody murder. It always seemed to be running at 7/10 max effort. I know that's an incorrect illusion, but that's what I got out of this video.

NO;
electronics
paddle shifters
TC

in a 194 mi race ie:15 laps, with that time difference you're 9:25 minutes behind

31 years later

I went there in 1980 for the last motorcycle GP, Interesting as the 350cc title was up for grabs between the German Anton Mang riding the works Kawasaki and the South African Jon Ekerold, Ekerold won the race and subsequently the championship posting the outright fastest lap only to be eclipsed in the following race by Lucchinelli in the following race!! What a ballsy guy Ekerold was considering he was riding a privateer 350cc Yamaha and Lucchinelli was riding a Works 500cc Suzuki and as you know there is a 2 mile? straightaway!!

Driving around in cicles (NASCAR) will obviously result in faster times compared to a technical F1 course. I'd love to see the average time of a NASCAR around the Monaco circuit :)

Re the Porsche times : the 918 street car was on regular Michelins and broke the 7 min barrier, albeit driven by one of the official factory drivers. Beloff's time was in a fire breathing 917 race car derivative, with over 1000 HP turbo charged ponies and on slicks. Not comparable....

The 917 is the scariest and baddest car in history. No competition.

Right Yves!
And Bellof was a unprecedented talent killed at Spa's Eau Rouge by an old man who faced the fact that someone younger is faster.
The murder got never charged.

Yves, the 1911 FIAT S76 "Beast of Turin" 28.3 liter 4 cylinder chain drive is the scariest of all
http://www.flickr.com/photos/mrscharroo/6856929112/

Road & Track Magazine did an article in the '60s about it racing at Targa Florio......they had a picture of it on a gravel road lined with 6' boulders

and one without the exhaust pipes...... 2, 3"x6" exhaust ports throwing 6' flames.....

they drove it on the streets of Turin thus the name

the car is being rebuilt in England

the con rod;

the 917/30 IS baddest road race car.......

but its a pussy next to HER car, Ashley Force:

http://www.johnforceracing.com/Crews/2006/ashleyforce.jpg

a 917/30 has 1580HP......thats what it takes to DRIVE THE BLOWER on Ashley's Funny Car

she's got ~8,500HP

1st Woman to win in Funny Cars 320MPH/4.48 sec running against her father, the 15 time World Champion

thats 515kph in 4.48 seconds.....65kph faster than a 917/30 on the old Mulsanne Straight (Circuit de la Sarthe) 6kms long......and she does it in 400 meters:drummer:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZU6CbwN4gE

and her sisters race too:smoking:
