Cheers to all you Brutale nutters. I just bought (er, stole) an 06 910S from of all places, ebay. Hasn't been delivered yet, but getting on this forum is a big help. The bad news is it was a trade at a non MV dealer in Coldwater, MI and they haven't given me jack squat for info on servicing or history. Is there a site I can go to that will ID the original dealer and maybe service history on the bike? It's got a 2 into 1 Ferraci system but other than that looks stock with 11k miles. I think my nearest dealer would be in Denver at Fay Myers, a 6 hour drive from Taos, NM so it's a big deal getting the bike there. Any advice much appreciated.

Welcome aboard. I don't know of any site that will id the original dealer or service history if there was one. But before you put too many miles on it, you better get the valves checked, the rear hub, and make sure all the electronics work as they should. '06 was kind of a rough year for SPUs.

Hey WG- I'm in Santa Fe, maybe we'll meet sometime. I haven't heard the best things about Fay Meyer's. I bought and have the major service done at Renaissance in Tucson, whom I highly recommend, though I know it's further. I think there's a dealer in Co. Springs, though I know nothing about them. You could be the guinea pig :)
This forum is an amazing resource, as is the guy who posted above me.
I've got 25k on mine and it's been great. Good luck,
Michael

Michael, thanks for the reply. Would love to hook up and ride sometime and learn from your time with the Brutale on various things. I am off flying till the 1st May when the unveiling of my 910 will occur. Can't wait. I may give the shop in the Springs a bell and see how they sound. Most of it comes down to the tech you use and less so the shop itself. I know Fay Myers well and their guys ran the gamut from brilliant to wouldn't let him air your tires. Every Sunday morning is a pretty good gathering all day for serious riders at World Cup coffee at the plaza light in Taos, center of old town. Leave a message anytime. My cel is 970/250/two one one six.

thanks CAG, I've been reading the threads on the hub and bearing issue. I'll check it before going anywhere. I ordered a stand and multi socket for the front and rear. since the chain tension is such a big deal, what is the preferred slack measured at the mid point as opposed to the manual specs? (I will get a manual when the bike arrives but overtightening seems to be what to avoid, correct?) And what is the SPU fix if you do have elec. gremlins? Are they costly?

The spu fix is costly. It is a new spu. On the bottom of the swing arm you will see a diagram showing you how to measure the slack, follow that. Better to run slightly loose than slightly tight.
