I have an '04 Brutale which I've put on about 900 miles since I bought it. I'm the second owner and it came w/Ti headers and 900m. on the clock. Here's some questions-
I'm use to riding twins, I have 2 Ducs so the power band on this 4 is different but much fun. The engine is like a swiss watch in many ways, and the sound is like an older ferrari. I think I'm not use to the tires/wt./hp ratio. My rear slips at times creating a lack of confidence. I've got Pilot Sports on this bike and am a big fan of Diablos-which are on the Ducs=no problems.The throtle is a little loose, meaning not a direct response from the roll on/roll off.
Ergos, well, the right peg is too short for my size 10's, meaning, I ride on the balls of my feet and because of the heel guard I'm pushed out. The seat....ah the seat, again I'm used to being on the tank a bit and this riding position is not condusive to that style, every bump I hit goes through my spine if I do not raise myself in my pegs.
Another question-both turn signals blink in an uneven pattern, the bike runs fine.

great to have you here

i can speak to a couple of your issue
first.... the throttle:
get a power commander iii/usb and have the bike dyno'd
worth EVERY PENNY

the pegs SUCK
they are the shortest i've EVER seen
i wish i knew which aftermarket ones to buy
i have size 10 feet as well
those with larger feet.... i have NO idea how they ride at all

others can speak about then tires

all this said.... the bike is incredible
the sound
the power
the experience

.......
oh,
the suspension
i wish i could get MINE sorted
i wish we could all get together like some kind of BMW tech day....
i bounce off the seat over some bumps..... and i'm 180 pounds and 5'6" (what a sad size, i know)

I had the same bouncing problem Greg until I softened some of the settings. It's far from perfect but a definite improvement.

Greg, i couldnt agree more on pegs issue. im jsut waiting for it to get to cold.t
its going to be sunny and 42 today :laughing: :laughing: but im going out anyway.
from what i have read through the posts is that the suspension softens after a bit. mine has 3000 miles on it and im perfectly comfortable on mine. Minus the wind trying to rip you off past 120
5'6" how the hell do you stand on the beemer.......or is there a pimp lean at stop lights :stickpoke :stickpoke
Im going with the Rizomas, they look great and are a solid peg, little extra protection.

I softened the back because I used to get pitched out of the seat on every bump. I just backed the compression damping off a notch or two. If you muck about with the suspension do it in small steps and keep note of what you did. I have not found a problem with the other points you raise not even the short foot rests.

believe it or not, i used to ride an R1200GS...
tall as hell
i had to climb on the left peg to mount the bike
but....
that peg was HUGE
and i felt comfortable doing it
but...
whenever i parked with the bike leaned to the left on the sidestand.... i had trouble getting it back upright

seat height doesn't bother me
after 160K miles of riding...
i only put my left foot down at a light
and i can shift my butt OFF the seat if i have to, leaving my right foot on the rear brake pedal

just habit, i guess

glad you did
but.....
if so, then the "SLACK" in the throttle surprises me

you have to be "GENTLE" with the brutale throttle OFF-IDLE...
mine has nothing between 1300 (idle) and 2200
it is NOT possible to run the bike between those 2 rpms....
it does NOT exist

up higher..... smooth as glass
while i do hate this indiosyncrasy of the bike...
i've gotten over it, because i love it so much

Man, the way mine sounds at higher revs, I wouldn't care if it went backwards between 1,300 and 2,200 RPM's. And for all I know maybe it does. I don't ride there. ;)
