Picked up a track only Kawi Ninja 400 2018.

Should be a fun bike to flail on the tracks and kart tracks.

Still need to get bodywork for it.

Addressing the clutch and shifter issues before I even take it out on the track.

The stock system is known to have weak springs that allow the clutch to slip under hard acceleration at higher revs in higher gears. Aftermarket stronger springs handle that in most cases.

Also the shift shaft has a lot of lateral slop that allows it to not fully shift the star as it can slide to the side a bit and then skip. Spears Racing and Norton Motorsports sell a shim kit that handles that.

There is even a blueprinted shift shaft available instead of the shim kit. https://www.norton-motorsports.com/...rinted-shift-change-shaft-kawasaki-ninja-400/

The shift detent spring is known to be weak (they make them to be easy to shift with a light clutch feel for beginners). The stock one doesn't return quick enough under fast shifting or using a quick shifter.

The cable return spring on the outside is a bit weak and gives no feel.

The above (shifter shim kit, cable spring, detent spring) can be bought in a package: https://www.spearsenterprises.com/product/kawasaki-400-transmission-kit-complete-2018-2019/

I might swap the clutch pack - not sure yet, will ride it first.

The woodcraft rearsets popped in the other day.

The P4 Brembo 30/34 arrived, but the bracket hasn't gotten here yet.

Waiting on my reusable engine gaskets to get here as well.

Just need to decide on bodywork. There is a hotbodies set in Sacramento for $400, with a scuff, but I am not sure I like the way the front mounts. Also considering the Armour Bodies.

Suspension will come next year I suppose.

Hot Bodies is junk. There is a reason that it is cheap. Armour Bodies is very good and what I have used and Woodcraft are good prople to work with. Shark Skinz is excellent but can be pricey.

That was my conclusion after looking at an install video for the Hot Bodies.

Shark Skinz are nice, but crest the $1K mark. I am leaning toward Armour Bodies at the moment.

Ooh damn, found out Frando make a 100mm radial brake adapter for the N400, after I bought the axial caliper and adapter plate....shoot. Could have used the stock right caliper from the Brutale on my Ninja. HA!

Either way - the brakes are going to be better. Have a 16mm R1 Brembo OEM master cylinder on the way to replace the OEM - supposed to work well with the 4-pot P4.

Finally got the last of the exhaust bits to mount a slip-on. Delkevic does make a header for the N400, so maybe next year I will pop one on and send the ECU over to Spears or Norton.

Might make another exhaust hanger, as the Tyga one goes to the stock can mounting point. The Delkevic exhaust came with this little adapter plate to go between the can strap and the hanger. I need a welder, as one would be easy to bang out.

You can see the used Woodcraft rearsets mounted up.

Waiting on Bodywork to see what Jesse Norton comes up with for GP style fairings.

Here is a preview of the GP bodywork Jesse Norton is working on completing, and I am very interested in getting...I like the talk of more room in the seat, this bike is TINY. haha. Maybe it will feel like my ol' TZ250 SuperSingle bike.
