Hello all. Just joining forum as a new (used) 2007 MV 1000 f4 owner. First Italian bike. Had the usual suspects of Japan... CBR's, GSXR's,ZX10, and currently own a K1600GT sport touring bike. Previous owner added allot of after market upgrades including larger radiator, upgraded brakes, rear sets, carbon fiber everywhere, aftermarket shock, remapped, etc.

My question is about the tachometer. It seems to jump/bounce quite a bit, its not smooth and linear like most bikes/cars Ive ever owned as your accelerating up through the rev range. Is that normal for this bike? Previous owner said it was always like that . Weird thing is that as I pass 8k rpms under full throttle, it just jumps to 12 or 13k rpms. Seems very odd. Cant imagine a manufacturer would produce a bike of this stature and have a bouncy tach.

Thanks for any input/feedback.

It's a faulty smoothing capacitor. I had mine fixed by the gentleman that fits the gear indicators into the dash. Do a search for gear indicator and you'll find the guy :)

His service isn't cheap, but it does fix the bouncing tach needle issue.

Also look at plugs....should be resistor type. Non-resistor plugs will create radio electrical noise that can cause meter problems....and where in the world are you? Please ad that to your profile.
