Need some help here, need to get a front and rear sprocket and chain. Searched the forum but couldn't find the answer I needed. I'm in Canada and want to buy online but no one in Canada has MV specific parts. So basically my question is: can i use a sprocket that is not MV specific, I couldn't find any info online as to the bolt pattern/spacing/dimension on any sprockets so I can't tell if they're compatible or not. The only thing I found is I need the clearance for the holder.

If I am not wording my question correctly I will simply ask: Can I use a sprocket that fits another bike?

Thanks

Check with site sponsor Sprocket Center.
If the off-set and splines are correct, tooth count is correct...or adjusted as you wish, and the pitch matches across the board, you should be fine.

There are manufacturers with fitment for MV.

How are you searching brother.

Like Chuck said - go look in the Market place right here on the forum:

This took me 3 minutes, all forum sponsors, very easy.:)

Good luck.

PS. How many miles K's have you got on that bike that you need to change all the running gear already ?

thanks silentservice703 and donsy for the reply. I didn't take the sponsered links into consideration cause as my OP stated, I was looking to get something local. Design Corse and Evolution are in Europe. As for sprocket center, it states that oem is 525 but my bike is 520. The reason I was asking for compatibility is since I am changing my sprockets, I would like to look at upgrading or something more Flashy!!! lol.

I am in Canada so the MV dealers here are pretty useless and so are the local shops since MV is not very popular here. When i ask them, the only response is go with OEM only.

As for my mileage, I have 20000 km on it. It is Canada so the weather here sucks sometimes. I do use it every day rain or shine so I'm not surprised that the chain is already worn. I want to change the sprockets as a precaution.

My next step I guess is to call MV USA and get some info off them.

Thanks again

I'm also in Canada but I used the Sprocket Center for my 520 conversion, however local shops would also have been able to get me parts. If your shops can't figure out what fits you could do the homework for them. Find what you want online and copy the brand & part numbers down, then ask your shop if they can get those parts.

Insiderider, Canada must be the smallest MV community outside of Madagascar, so if you insist on buying local that's fine, I merely pointed you towards the Market place on the forum because 9 times out of 10 those guys will know more than your local dealer, and have more options if you care to email them.
At the end of the day it's your money and your choice, good luck mate.
