So I finally brought her home today. All I can say is the ride home was intense. I kept having to tell myself to keep it steady and remember the engine is new and has to be broken in. This freaking triple speaks to me, I swear it, saying "Just redline me already!"
I also wanted to say that this is the first time in over 30 years I've gotten that "feeling" in my stomach from the speed and acceleration of some kind of machine. The last time that happened I was riding with my dad or brother after they had tricked out some old late '60s early '70s big iron V8 from Pontiac. I figured it was just because I'd gotten older...nope, suddenly that feeling was back like it had never left.
I cannot get over how this triple feels. It's the first time I've ever ridden one and I figured I'd take a gamble on it. I've ridden 4 cyl liters and 2 cyl Ducatis, each has their own distinctive feeling and personality. The thing about them though is they hum along just fine without hesitation and operating seamlessly. This odd number engine of MV's seems like it is purposely running rich or timing is incorrect or something. It took a while to even get used to it and tell myself it's running normal. I freaking love the sound and feel of it now - there is nothing else like it.
Still getting used to the throttle, it's definitely a noticeable difference compared to an actual linkage especially if like I'm sort of coasting to slow down and keep the throttle in the same position. The sensor or relay or whatever it is can't seem to make up its mind, trying to figure out what to do.
I already have a Shorai battery ready to go and Monday my new cables from Motolectric arrive so that's the first task I'm tackling. After that I'd probably either get the sliders installed or replace the windshield. The stock one does absolutely nothing. Thinking about this one:
