Picked up my brand spanking new 1078RR, 7hr return trip in the ute but it was worth it. Just went for a 100km ride and although limited to 5500rpm for now (bugger) the difference over my 750S is amazing(still love the 750 though). Brilliant brakes and ride , the wiff of the torque to come has me wishing for the first 500kms to be over already. At least the pirellis are scrubbed in now .If I stay up all night will tomorrow come sooner so I can ride again ?

I live in Tassie as well, NW coast. Just traded a 2008 910S on a 1078RR at Shearwater motorcycles. Where did you get yours from?

Know what you mean about running it in, up to about 800kms now, just need to get past that 1000kms and let it rip!

Yep, got mine from Shearwater as well. It would have to be one of the best bike shops I`ve seen in a long time, great range of bikes and gear. Was your 910 the orange one with rearsets ? Looks like your 1078 is the same colour as mine, will be interesting to compare notes as time moves on.

Na, mine was a red one that sold in 2 days. Funny thing was, the guy who bought it had actually traded the 2007 Z1000 I owned before hand. Similar tastes I guess.

Mine is red/silver. I have fitted MV Corse pipes, fender eliminator, new footpegs and LED indicators. Just waiting on Trooper Lu to supply me with CRG Arrow mirrors and stainless bar ends. Thinking about getting the full Arrow headers and link pipe, need to save some more money, getting hard to justify it to the minister of finance!

7 hour trip, you must live Hobart way?

Gday Nads, I`m at New Norfolk. You haven`t waisted any time with the mods, good on ya. I wouldn`t mind a hugger at some point to protect rear shock from crap. I seem to be constantly picking shit out of the 750s swingarm especially with all the roadworks in Tas.
Hey Psycho, nowhere is far from anywhere here(compared to the north island)but there`s not many straight roads connecting them either.Check out a map of Tassie , er , so to speak.

Not many maps of Tassie around these days, mainly Brazillians!
I hear Brazil is lovely this time of year. By the way you mentioned Arrow exhaust, Shearwater has a full system sitting there, whole system feels lighter than original mufflers. Seamed a good deal too, if I wasn`t in so much buyers shock when picking up 1078 I might have grabbed it.

Don't worry too much about the running in restrictions guys.

I touched 10k rpm (in third IIRC) and 213 kms/hr (in sixth) within the first 100 kms of getting the bike early March, and repeated the process several times since (in moderation of course :jsm:). MV Corse Race ECU and MV Corse Ti system.

I've just returned from the 1000 kms service: fit as a fiddle!

Well, the fuel consumption can be pretty gruesome, but oh well...
