Dear MV friends,

maybe one of you can help me to solve my challenge. I have correct the spark timing on my 175 and therefore I need a "flywheel puller".

Where can I buy something, and which dimension of the puller do I have to use? (you can find a photo in my gallery)

Pull off device for Dynamoflywheel (temperd) Thread : M27 x 1,25 is correct?

Is the safty screw a left thread? What would you advise how can I fix when unscrew without destroying anything.

Which distance should I use for the ignition and the contacts; 0,4?

Hi Helmut.

27x1.25 is the correct puller for MV's with a flywheel magneto.

You must use the correct puller or you will damage the magneto.

They are available everywhere but if you have problems try a Vespa scooter specialist (or was it Lambetta?).

From what i remember the thread on the retaining nut is normal right hand........but i'm getting old and forgetful, so don't quote me on that!

Points gap 0.4mm

Static advance 18 degrees BTDC
Auto advance 20 dergrees BTDC
Total advance 38 degrees.

BUT your bike has been 'tuned' i believe, so may be using more advance.

Valve clearences 0.03mm for both inlet and exhaust.

Retaining nut is what i think you are calling the 'safty-screw?

They are never that tight, so a quick knock on the spanner should loosen it.........if not, try thr other direction.

Dorian, thx again for your support.

The retaining nut is left hand and was easy to open. M27x1,25 worked fine to remove the magneto. The settings should be fine but I have to try it during the next days.

Dario,

I have a last question. How much spark advance (TDC) would you recommend? How many mm before the piston achieved the TDC?

I only do timing in degrees of crankshaft rotation, not virtical distance to TDC. It is the only acurate way of doing things in my opinion as you can never get a truly vertical measurement onto the top of the piston.

Therefore the figures i mentioned before are the only ones i can recommend. ie Static advance 18 degrees
Auto advance 20 degrees
Total advance of 38 degrees
