I need to send a motorbike engine (it's already mounted in a proper wooden box ready for transport) from Portugal to Canada but it's hard to finding a way to ship it at a reasonable price.

If someone here could assist me (maybe someone who has a partnership with an international parcel or freight company??) this i'd very much appreciate it.

Please pm me if you don't want to disclose the info publicly
Thanks in advance :)

Yes, I can advise.

I'll forward you a shipping company later today.

First thing though.

There is now an international scheme to prevent timber contaminated with longhorn beetle and other nasties crossing the oceans and causing devastation to trees. The scheme involves companies producing timber packaging to be registered with an ISPM number. This number is stamped on the pallet/ packing case. The number identifies the registered manufacturer who is regularly inspected to ensure that the timber used in manufacture is all HEAT TREATED to kill phyto infections.

The mark will probably say ISPM 15, HT DB GB ( Mfr Number ) GB is an example country code.

If you send a case overseas without the mark on it could be seized at the airport, unpacked, burned..and billed to you..

Plywood and OSB and chipbpoard ie manmade materials do not require this. However, if there is any wood eg pine in the construction then it will require stamping.

So check the case you are using has a number on it. It doesn't matter where the HT number originates as long as it is there and legible. It could even be a Chinese one for example.

Goods being shipped within the EU do not require this stamp so long as they stay within the EU.

Joe

ps Here are the people to use. I have used them myself to ship a Grandfather clock from UK to USA. : ) They have offices all over the world

Damn..

Someone on here has to buy that SBK engine and race gearbox from you.. :stickpoke..

There can only be a hand full of these engines in the World ever prepared to this spec...

If FBF was to pre an engine with the bits fitted to your SBK motor, I doubt there would much change from £15K..
