New owner and member. I've wanted one of these for years.

From what I've read, they're not the quietest engines in the world, but I'd be grateful if you'd have a listen to mine, there's a repetitive tick (I don't want to say knock because that worries me).

Thoughts?......

Hi and welcome,

Yes the 750 is a noisy motor, lots of mechanical clatter, ticking however is not part of normal stuff. I suspect the cam chain tensionor is stuck or past its best. What mileage has this engine covered? If it is new to you and its history is a bit patchy I would look to do a full engine service including valve clearances, oil and fuel filters, check internal and external fuel hoses. Manuals are a sticky and downloadable from Donsys site. Would also check the wheel bearings on the front and hub assembly at the rear.

So plenty to keep you busy, where are you located, add it in your details it helps folks point you to suppliers and services near you.

Thanks for that Jimbo. Yes the engine is a bit 'leggy' having covered 22,000 miles.

I've read about the cam chain tensioner and a reset method, which is perhaps worth a shot.

Last recorded service was 17K, 5 years ago and it's apparently had oil services regularly (haven't they all?).

I've downloaded the manual, I'm handy with a set of spanners and they look easy to work on, so I'll start with a full engine service and see where that takes me.

Again, thanks for the response.
